Škoda Superb Combi 2.0 TDI (125 kW) 4X4 Elegance

Based on the Superb (combi) limousine, the front and mid-body version of the Combi is the same as the (combi) sedan, and essentially both cars have the same technique. Here, at Skoda, hot water was not invented. Why would she just? With a length of 4 meters, the Combi belongs to this category of dimensions in the frames (combi) of the sedan, with the exception of the raised roof and the rear of the "backpack", there is no noticeable difference between them.

The same awaits the driver and front passenger in the Combi. workspace: the same dashboard, the same storage space, the same transparent gauges that, together with the pleasant steering wheel feel, do not give the impression that this is a car almost five meters long. The clutch pedal movement was, of course, too long again, and under the hood of the test unit was a diesel that could be heard by voice (especially at higher revs) and felt by light vibrations of the pedals and steering wheel.

True, the dashboard is soft on top, the test Combi was also covered with leather, electrification took care of the settings of the front seats, the lowering of the windows and the flashing of very transparent side mirrors, but what a sense of prestige this car does not give. It's not premium, but it does have accommodation offers above premium. How much the engineers have managed to squeeze it, especially off the bench in the back, is simply rude to the competition. It's hard to describe how much room there is, especially for the knees.

It just doesn't end there, except for the width where three adults on the back bench would feel like in some other similar car - a bit cramped. The main difference between Superb Combi and Superb is the trunk.

Already from the outside with large doors and a rounded shape, it promises a lot, but the view from the inside does not disappoint. Nicely designed, with an interesting detachable light on the left that can be taken out of the car and used as a flashlight, there are plenty of attachment points, two large drawers on the sides, and a 12 volt outlet. The trunk is so long that you'll get your pants dirty if you're not careful when tightening.

If your height is less than 185 centimeters, you can not be afraid to bump your head against the open tailgate, which is opened using electricity for an additional fee: it is very convenient to receive a command through three sources or through the door button, a button inside the gear lever or using a button on the remote control remote control. When the case is opened, it beeps like a van, the process can be stopped at any time and started in the opposite direction (closing) by pressing the button again.

When you open the door, the roll is automatically removed, which is very convenient if you have a lot of shopping bags in your hands, but this takes a little getting used to as the roll has to be manually reinstalled, which is sometimes forgotten.

The Superb Combi test also boasted trunk space distribution kit... These rods and rubber bands have proven to be very comfortable with little luggage in the trunk, as they prevent things from rolling off while driving and make the luggage closer to the tailgate and therefore more easily accessible.

If you lower the rear bench to a flat bottom with the Superb Combi (the seat rises to an upright position and the back rests down – both in a third), the Škoda suddenly becomes a very spacious bedroom or a cargo van for longer items. .

Maybe the Superb Combi's size really scares off the driver from driving to the crowded city center and looking for a parking spot, but the car is absolutely necessary due to the parking sensors (definitely a must-have piece of equipment!), Large side windows and an almost flat rear end. and the hood is manageable.

Known to have a more dynamic ride and a faster left-right (or right-left) steering combination The combi is not a racing car: while the front end is already turning into the next turn, the driver cannot get rid of the feeling that the butt is still "taking" the first one. Body wobbles are noticeable, but the fact is, the Superb Combi doesn't want to be a Fabia RS as it's built to enjoy a spacious and comfortable ride.

The heart of the Superb Combi there was a 2-liter 0-kilowatt turbodiesel. Loud at higher revs, capable of delivering solid torque and power already at 125 rpm, it starts to run above 1.500 rpm, and from 1.750 to 2.000 rpm it just doesn't hesitate.

Turn in the red box until it stops (above 5.000 rpm). Thanks to its high torque, it provides comfort for those who do not want to shift. While driving, the on-board computer "orders" more than 12 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers, and at a slow speed of 130 km / h on the motorway (data from the SC speedometer), an average of six to seven liters of fuel is sufficient. Rides on rails can also mean less than six liters of average consumption. Cheap?

Yes, if you consider that such a Superb Combi has a mass of about 1 ton and four-wheel drive. The latter, the fourth generation Haldex, provides (with the right tires, of course) good traction, good handling and a reliable ride. The harvester is not designed for rallying in the desert, just look at it: 7-inch wheels and nothing in the back of the SUV remind you of a "trophy" camel? We hope not.

  • Upgrade to the blockbuster Superb. When the thought of buying a minivan stops at the van. We recommend a diesel engine, four-wheel drive does not harm due to its reliability. Imagine electrifying the tailgate and laughing many times with your hands busy.
