When to change the oil in a diesel?

Internal combustion engines apply one of two oil change criteria: mileage limit or service life - typically 1 year. The question is, at what time of the year to change the oil?

Well, in winter, the engine operates in adverse conditions that contribute to the accumulation of impurities in the oil. During the winter, a cold engine can cause large gas blowouts that can leach soot, unburned fuel, and debris into the oil. Soot and combustion products increase the density of the oil, and the fuel thins the oil, causing a decrease in its viscosity and a change in its properties. Both phenomena have a negative effect on the operation of the drive unit. The above reasons justify changing the oil in the spring when it is more contaminated.
