When do you need to change the air filter?
The car air filter needs to be replaced regularly. Each manufacturer gives a different service life of the filter element, so there can be no definite answer about the replacement period.
Carburetor engines
On such motors, filters are usually changed more often, since such a power system is more demanding. On many vehicles, this recommendation is in the order of 20 km.
Injection engines
On motors controlled by an electronic injection system, air filters are hermetically installed, and the cleaning system is more modern, so such elements last longer. Typically, the plant recommends replacing at least once every 30 km.
But first of all, it is worth paying attention not to the technical regulations of the manufacturer, but to the operating conditions of your car:
- When operating in a clean city, where almost everywhere there are asphalt roads, the air filter of the car is minimally contaminated. That is why it can be replaced only after 30-50 thousand kilometers (depending on the manufacturer's recommendation).
- On the contrary, if you operate your car in a rural area, where there is constant dust, dirt, country roads with dry grass, etc., then the filter will quickly fail and become clogged. In this case, it is better to change it twice as often as recommended by the manufacturer.
In general, every car owner should take it as a rule that the air filter changes along with the engine oil, then you will have fewer problems with the power system.
