When should chains be used on car tires?

Snow chains are of great importance in winter weather when you need to get somewhere without the permission of mother nature, but only if you use it safely and efficiently.

and the risk remains high.

In some places, roads are covered with snow or rain in winter, which makes driving very dangerous. This season is the best time to prepare your car and be ready for anything that can happen.

Traction is one of the main losses when driving on a snow-covered or icy surface. Adding chains to your car's tires can be a viable solution so you can get where you need to go even if the roads aren't in the best condition.

When to use snow chains?

Snow chains should only be used when there is a layer of snow or ice on the road. The use of chains on the pavement causes significant damage to both the tires and the road.

So if you come across a road that is clearly plowed and salted, stop and remove your chains before moving on.

Before you go out and buy chains for your tires, make sure you know if chains are illegal, legal, or even required in some cases. It depends on the state you live in as each state has its own laws.

Places where chains are allowed usually come with a level of liability that limits their use, so make sure you know the law and follow it.

You can find chains for most tire sizes, but remember that there must be sufficient clearance so that the chains can be installed without damaging the body, chassis, or brakes.
