Collective farm auto tuning - this not too politically correct term was assigned to the ridiculous, clumsy design of the car, which was quite widespread in the era of the USSR. Today, collective farm auto tuning continues to live, and its samples can often be found on the roads.
How did tuning start?
Engineers and designers who create cars work with full dedication, but still they cannot please everyone. In addition, they are limited by strict requirements for safety and optimal aerodynamics, so a huge number of motorists, as soon as they buy a new car, immediately begin to modify it. This is where artistic taste and aesthetic preferences manifest themselves in all their glory. For some, this translates into collective farm auto tuning.
Blue LEDs and lamps
Hanging a car with luminous garlands is one of the main signs of what is commonly called collective farm car tuning. Here we are not talking about comfort, safety, or the desire to take care of your car.
Collective farm auto tuning turns transport into a kind of analogue of color music, which was so fond of Soviet youth.
Mudguards and air intake on the hood
Mudguards are an important part of the design, but on many models, their function is performed by wings. If the car is ultra-fast, or cargo, then a powerful mudguard is needed. Collective farm tuning of cars uses exactly those mud flaps that are used in world rally championships. Of course, they look silly on public transport.
The air intake testifies to the enormous power of the engine, which needs a special fuel-air mixture. In the photo of collective-farm car tuning, you can often see a similar decoration crowning the hoods of used wrecks produced by AvtoVAZ.
Eyelashes and headlight covers
Demand creates supply, and automakers offer a wide variety of headlight cover kits so that homemade decoration and personalization do not compromise traffic safety. Therefore, collective-farm tuning of foreign cars often looks not even collective-farm, but quite decent. And those aesthetes who want to save money use improvised materials: masking tape, epoxy, putty.
The result of such amateur performance often looks terrible and can confidently claim the prize "the most collective farm car tuning."
Film on lights, spoilers and windshield wipers
Intricate spoilers, bright film on the lanterns, upgraded windshield wipers - all this gives the car a sporty-aggressive look.
Rubber moldings and tire marker
The main purpose of the rubber molding is to protect the doors from accidental impacts. Once they were associated with the high status of the car and the owner, and therefore were in great fashion. But now only desperate conservatives keep loyalty to them.
Tire markers are designed to draw on these same tires. Here everyone can prove himself an artist. Someone is limited to small inscriptions with the name of the brand, and someone turns tires into a real art gallery or an exhibition of children's drawings. But this type of tuning is gradually beginning to become a thing of the past.
Straight-through mufflers and belt caps
Some drivers naively believe that muffler tuning can increase engine power. In fact, this task is much more difficult, and it is impossible to solve it by changing the appearance of the exhaust pipe alone. But bad car tuning is limited to installing a huge nozzle, and the desired increase in power is already drawing up the imagination.
Seat belt plugs are much less harmless than giant samovar pipes instead of silencers. With their help, careless drivers prevent the system from issuing persistent reminders to buckle up.
Vehicle lowering and rear diffusers
When the vehicle is moving at high speed, the risk of rollover increases. Therefore, real racing cars are all squat - this helps them maintain stability. But for ordinary non-sporty models, such tuning gives nothing but problems when driving on hillocks and crossing city tram lines. The lower part literally crawls along the ground and is damaged on every bump.
The diffuser is another detail that indicates that the car is capable of moving at an increased speed, and therefore needs additional devices to prevent it from flying off the track.
But the diffuser works only if it is part of the whole aerodynamic complex. If it is simply hung to the car, then it will only make the body heavier and amuse the vanity of the owner, who cannot afford a real sports model.
Installing a wing
The car wing is an invention of the famous Ferrari. It is needed to reduce skidding at high speeds and to increase downforce.
In addition, the benefits of even a properly installed wing can only be felt at speeds over 140 km / h.
Rose on the gear knob
In Soviet times, pleasing to the eye knobs on the gear knobs with roses, crabs, spiders and even toy cars filled in with epoxy resin were in great fashion.
Fringe in salon
The fringed interior is another bright trend in Soviet automotive fashion. Some were so carried away that they turned the interior of the car into a kind of boudoir.
Cabin fan
This element of Soviet luxury car tuning is still in demand, despite the fact that almost all new cars are equipped with air conditioners.
Massage chair covers
A truly terrible Soviet tuning of the car included a massage mat made from the so-called "bones".
He gave the cabin a completely rural look, but to a certain extent coped with its main function. The peak of fashion for these products fell on the 80s of the last century.
film on the windshield
This is not about a light filter, but about films with inscriptions. They can be both witty and stupid, but almost always have a collective farm flavor. In the days of the USSR, the inscriptions “Autorally”, “Motorsport” and the foreign word Champion were especially popular.
Reflectors on mudguards
Passion for glitter among drivers is common. Why are Lamborghini and Mercedes strewn with rhinestones worth.
Spoiler grille rear window
Spoiler grilles that completely cover the rear window came into fashion at the end of the Soviet era. They greatly reduced visibility, but gave the car a "cool" look, and this was enough to make fans stand out at the risk of their own and other people's lives.
Modern varieties of collective farm tuning - icons and photographs on the dashboard, as well as talismans and air fresheners suspended in front of the windshield. They distract the driver and block the view from the window, which makes it possible to safely call such embellishments terrible.
