Short test: Hyundai ix20 1.6 CRDi Style

Many people ask, "What is the ix20?" Several answers are correct: this is the successor to the Matrix, it is a small limousine van, that is, the same size as the Clio, only it has been upgraded to a minivan, it is a good four-meter car with urban and suburban ambitions, and this, as already said, is the Hyundai look. on what this type of car should be.

At Hyundai, they have probably the wisest long-term development orientation of any car brand right now; what they started two decades ago is now being translated into great products and a (deservedly) good brand image.

And the ix20 is certainly a great example of this focus and proof that the brand deserves a good image. Even by today's already cutting-edge standards, the ix20 is extremely easy to drive: because the clutch pedal's soft spring (as well as the brake and accelerator are among the softer ones) and because the power steering is so powerful, this means that the force needed to turn the ring , is very small. In addition, it is located high in it, which means that the driver sees in front of the car close and far beyond the classic cars in the column. This is one of the best interpretations of a car for less experienced family drivers, as well as for older drivers and in general for anyone who puts sportiness last and lightness first among requirements.

To succeed in European markets, Hyundai has a development center in Germany, including a design office. No wonder the ix20 is also popular in our old continent, which is especially true of the interior - it's a strong evolution of Hyundai's approach to interior design over the past few years, but at the same time it has nothing to do with what we do. inherited from the Koreans earlier - let's say - for a good decade. Inside there are many design elements, but they are still protected from the restrictions of kitsch, while everything is transparent and ergonomic. All of this is especially true for sensors, more dissatisfaction can only be caused by the on-board computer, which stores a huge amount of data, and browsing between them is only one-way.

Choosing such an engine is also not bad: it seems to spin gently and loves to spin until the red field, but at the same time it has a characteristic diesel character: wake up at 1.200 rpm, have decent traction already at 1.700, up to 3.500 it takes its breath away and that it can drive almost a ton and 300 kilograms of body even with six liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

So, if you fall into the target group of customers, don't hesitate and give the ix20 a try. Most likely, he will pleasantly surprise you in all respects. It's just the way it is.
