Short test: Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi DCT Impression

We often buy cars with our eyes, and this is where Hyundai's new European identity is at the forefront. The Hyundai i30 is very restrained, maybe too much to decide with the eyes, but the rational side comes to the fore, which tells us that there is also a very serious car hidden under such a seriously designed body.

And this is also true. Driving performance may not be sporty, but the Hyundai i30, with its combination of a comfortable and therefore relatively soft chassis, reasonably precise steering and chassis, and good handling, does an excellent job of handling all the demands of day-to-day tasks. This is further aided by the comfortable seats, which also provide ample rear legroom for adults and are equipped with accessible Isofix anchorage points for transporting the smallest family members. The trunk, with a base 395 liters and increased to 1.300 liters, also meets most needs.

The designers retained a number of switches, including those for air conditioning, heating, or front seat ventilation, available as an option in analog form, and much of the control has been transferred to an intuitive center display that provides Apple support. CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces. There is also an extensive range of safety equipment and driver assistance equipment.

The cabin is well insulated from ambient sounds as well as engine noise - a 1,6-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that developed 136 "horsepower" in the test car. He put it on the road with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that once again proved to be one of the best products of its kind. This was consistent with fuel consumption, which in the test reached seven liters, but the range of the norm showed that it was possible to cope with a favorable 5,6 liters of diesel fuel consumed per hundred kilometers.
