Short test: Mazda6 2.0 Skyactive SPC Revolution

Ten years ago, the Mazda6 was a very hot car in the offer of this Japanese brand (as well as the first Slovenian car of the year from a Japanese manufacturer). Back then, buying a luxury car was considered a smart decision, but now things are a little different. As Mazda knows, this class is losing its appeal to buyers. In the end, they were fortunate enough to make a big dash with the CX-5, which quickly became the most popular model in Mazda's European offering.

Mazda6 in the third generation became much larger than in the first two versions, especially in the sedan version, which was aimed primarily at American buyers. In fact, this is the only drawback we attribute to this car when testing a sedan with a conventional two-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. With a length of 4,86 meters, it shows promise, but at least in terms of roominess, it does not fully live up to expectations. There is more than enough space in the front seats, of course, and everything looks fine in the back until we put a tall Slovenian on the bench - then we don’t have enough headroom.

It's a nod to attractive design, as Mazda designers love to show off their looks on the Šestica: even though it also has this engine and front-wheel drive, it looks like a far more premium design with rear wheels. drive. The dimensions are very polished, the hood and trunk are almost symmetrical, the cabin between them is like a coupe. In short, the car works great on the road.

Likewise, the driving dynamics and comfort are commendable. We even praise her for the engine. Thanks to the modern lightweight body structure, the sufficiently powerful engine provides sufficient maneuverability at a fairly economical fuel consumption.

In the tested version, it also convinces with many useful accessories of the standard equipment.

Nice buy, nothing.

evaluation

  • The sedan version of the Mazda6 is primarily intended for the American market, already larger than the usual concept of a European upper middle class car. The two-liter petrol engine is convincing enough, albeit unusual.
