Short test: Peugeot 2008 1.6 BlueHDi 120 Allure

Small hybrids are popular, some go like hot cakes. For example, the Nissan Juke, which has already convinced 816 customers in the first three months of this year, and the 2008 Peugeot were chosen by only 192 customers. What's so compelling about Nissan, let's put that aside. But the 2008 is just a nice little car, positioned slightly higher than its 208 sibling, for those who are looking for more space in smaller cars and, above all, more comfortable seating and getting in. At the same time, its appearance is very elegant, although, of course, like a Peugeot it is inconspicuous. The interior is very pleasant, ergonomics fully meet expectations. Some, at least initially, will have issues with layout design and handlebar size.

This is similar to the smaller 208 and 308, and the sensors in front of the driver are positioned so that the driver must look at them through the steering wheel. Thus, the steering wheel, as it were, lies almost on the lap of the driver. For most, this situation becomes acceptable over time, but not for some. The rest of the interior is simply beautiful. The instrument panel has a very modern design, almost all control buttons have been removed, replaced by a central touchscreen. Riding on it is a little vague, especially at high speeds, because finding a place to press with the pad of the finger sometimes fails, but, above all, it requires the driver to look away from what is happening in front of him. Here, too, it is true that we get so used to it with prolonged use. The position of the driver's and front passenger's seat without comment, if the front passengers are not exactly giants, then there is enough space in the back, especially for the legs.

In fact, he is just there, but because of the size of the car, miracles should not be expected. The 350 liter luggage compartment seems to be perfect for normal transport needs. Allure has a long list of standard equipment and includes many useful and already quite luxurious items (for example, LED ceiling lights). There are also a range of infotainment items to match the touchscreen equipment. It is easy to connect to a mobile phone via bluetooth, the USB connector is convenient. A navigation device and an on-board computer complete the perfection. Our 2008 had an additional option for (semi) automatic parking, its use seems simple enough. However, the heart of 2008 is a new 1,6-liter turbo diesel engine labeled BlueHDi. This one has already proven itself quite well in the "brotherly" DS 3 some time ago.

Here, too, it is confirmed that PSA engineers have done a great job with this version. It is slightly more powerful than the e-HDi version (by 5 "horsepower"), but it seems that this is really an engine with excellent characteristics (acceleration, top speed). An important part of the impression is modesty in terms of fuel consumption. On our standard lap it was 4,5 liters per 100 kilometers, and the average for the test is quite acceptable 5,8 liters per 100 kilometers. However, the last surprise is Peugeot's pricing policy. Anyone who decides to buy from this brand should be very careful about the price. This can be judged at least from the data of the distributor, which provided us in 2008. The price of the test car with all accessories (except for the automatic parking system, 17-inch wheels and black metallic paint) was 22.197 18 euros. but if the buyer decides to buy with Peugeot financing, it will be just under XNUMX thousand. Really exclusive price.
