Kratki test: Toyota Verso 1.6 D-4D Left

Well, we doubt that this service is more of a well-planned business strategy for both brands. And yet, the first Toyota with a BMW power engine is ahead of us. The trend in the market is for manufacturers to downsize engines with advanced technology, which is why 67 percent of customers currently choose engines between 1,6 and 1,8 liters. Here Toyota was the weakest, and the new 1.6 D-4D engine in the nose of the Versa is an expected step.

How does it work in practice? You won't notice the "missing" 400 cubic inches if you diligently use all six gears available. In the right-hand area, where the torque curve is at its steepest, you'll be fine chasing the Versa. It exhales at just over 3.000 rpm, with a significant increase in noise. If you use all 82 kilowatts, the Verso will go to 13 in just XNUMX seconds. It is true, however, that said engine is ideally suited to the calm nature of the vehicle. The car is designed as a family car and is also in practice. It is undemanding to driving, comfortable and rides beautifully.

The updated Verso has a pretty fresh look. Last year's refurbishment gave it more fashionable references, but it should be noted that the car has been on the market since 2009 as a mainstay. This is more noticeable in the interior, which is rather gray and indifferent, but far from making the build quality poor and inaccurate. . As we are used to in Verso, it sits quite high. The view through the glass to the hood is completely unobstructed, since the counters are shifted to the right. They are simple and transparent, with the exception of a small digital indicator that reads our kilometers and fuel status - this is sometime in another time. However, this is a completely new multimedia multimedia system called Toyota Touch 2. With a six-inch LCD display with new graphics, it is possible to control the updated navigation with the possibility of using Google Street View, and through MirrorLink we can connect to the phone and therefore access the Internet.

A new ticket to the world of diesel Versos will cost you 900 euros less than before, when only a two-liter turbodiesel was available. Then, with the right equipment, just measure out the amount of comfort you want. Tip: If you opt for a large roof window, keep in mind that you will not be able to transport anything on the roof, as it will not be possible to install roof racks.

evaluation

  • With the new engine, Verso offers what most competitors already offer. So "it's more" must be looked for elsewhere. Ease of use, quality and price are already real attributes.
