Brief test: Citroën C4 eHDi 115 Collection

1,6-liter turbodiesels have now completely replaced the weaker 114-liter, which were once considered the entry-level engines in the diesel sedan class. A decent 4 "horses" will not cause controversy in the inn, but their power is enough for the car to easily follow the stream of cars. The rest of the engine is no longer new; we already know this from other PSA vehicles, but it feels very good in the Citroën CXNUMX. Morning cold air is not a problem for him, as even then the preheating will be short. It sounds quite loud after starting up, but soon, when the temperature gets a little higher, everything calms down. The interior also begins to heat up quickly, so it is enough to select only the desired level of automatic temperature control speed on the air conditioner.

If you look at this C4 from a purely technical point of view, it's hard to blame him. The interior is spacious, including the trunk, the driving seat will suit the vast majority of drivers, and the equipment is rich enough to satisfy all the usual needs of a modern driver. The seemingly comfortable seats are one of the car's best features, and the dashboard is also completely understandable from the user's point of view. The materials used do not disappoint, nor do they disappoint the overall impression of the interior. But is this enough? Maybe for someone who is not looking for frills. Especially technically, because looking at the rather outdated center screen allows us to understand that the era of generations of the current C4 is gradually coming to an end.

Given that the engine is familiar for a long time, we expected it to be the same with the gearbox. We've described a lot of PSA gearbox failures in the past, so we can finally say that these stories are (at least for now) over. What exactly they did, we did not delve into, but the matter is working as it should. No more inaccurate shifts and a little flabbiness in the gear lever. Switching is smooth and precise.

Despite occasional driving (measurements), average fuel consumption at the end of the test was about six liters per hundred kilometers, which is a favorable number that can become even more favorable if you do not press the gas too hard and move. with such a motorized C4 mostly out of urban crowds. However, this more reliable consumption according to our norm is one liter less.

Is the C4 still a relevant and interesting car for buyers? Only sales results can give us the answer. They have no reason to be bad, as the C4, combined with this turbodiesel and the selected equipment offered by the Collection package, is a car that will be able to meet the daily needs of the user without any problems.
