Short test: Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi Econetic Trend

Econetic is a kind of link between theory and practice. Theoretically, a turbodiesel engine can use relatively little fuel, but if you tune it the way Ford does, it's even more fuel efficient than the regular version. Of course, for such a theory it is necessary to master the practice, namely, constantly drive a car, as it is correct in the theory of economical driving. This, in turn, requires careful handling of all parts of the car, especially the accelerator pedal, as well as timely switching to higher gear ratios. In such circumstances, the Fiesta Econetic will serve you well.

After all, it has a great theoretical starting point familiar to regular readers of our Avto magazine: the great chassis and responsive steering that make the Fiesta an enjoyable and fun car to drive. The driver will love both the excellent seat, which holds the body well, and the ergonomics, with which they are not used to the number and location of the opaque buttons on the center console.

Anyone who loves good music while driving will be able to connect their music sources via USB, Aux or iPod even with a very reliable radio. This jack and the rugged radio with CD / MP3 player are part of the Control Package 2 accessory, which includes additional comfort, automatic temperature control air conditioning and Bluetooth interface. This is not a matter of course, but at all festivals ESP is always with us.

Of course, we expected from the motor equipment the most theoretical basis for a more economical driving, but there were no major surprises here.

A standard emission of just 87 grams of CO2 per kilometer or an average consumption of just 3,3 liters per 100 kilometers compared to conventional turbo diesel equipment allows the system to stop the engine from time to time and slightly increase the differential gear ratio, which in practice causes slightly less dynamic engine response. at higher rpm. We have already implemented this in the regular version of the Fiesta with this 1,6-liter turbo diesel.

Our average test on this Fiesta was quite far from theoretical, which is of course due to practical considerations - if you want to engage with the car and not brake, you still need to press the accelerator a little harder and then more fuel also goes through. through the engine injection system.

But we tried and theoretically were able to achieve about a tenth less consumption than stated, but this theory does not smell!
