The reason is simple. There isn't much going on in the class he's in. Competitors, the most important in the European market, of course, are Passat and Mondeo, also not quite fresh. The only exception in this class is the Opel Insignia. More interestingly, in this class, it is difficult for individual brands to “steal” customers from each other. This class is declining in numbers and buyers in this class are increasingly looking for SUVs or crossovers. The current version of the Mazda6 is a classic for those who feel lithe enough not to sit high, skilled enough to handle a relatively long and wide body in today's traffic, and who add a touch of elegance to a nearly five meter car. - a long sedan (or caravans, in the case of Mazda the latter is even shorter than a sedan and therefore easier to put in a garage).

For that circle of buyers, the Mazda6 has now been redesigned, which means some "fixes" to the body, as well as new headlights with LED technology and auto-dimming. Mild changes can be found in the interior as well, most of which are in the materials used for the coatings and the like, and the extremely meticulous workmanship is already catching up with some of the more surface makers in the premium class. Also, the minimum equipment level was canceled, so now the customer mostly gets a lot. At the stage of equipping Revolution, this is a bit more. We also tried with respect to the rich equipment, the level of the tested equipment was really rich.

I will note the projection screen on the windshield. In terms of usability, it definitely replaces some very popular digital meters. Mazda has them too, but we cannot change their content. The equipment of the infotainment system is also at a high level, but again only according to the Mazda version. This only means an eight-inch center touchscreen (which only works in a stationary car, otherwise we navigate through complex menus with a large button on the center console). Now an approximate connection of smartphones via Bluetooth (MZD connect), there is also a CarPlay or Andorid Auto connection. On the sound side, it also satisfies, the radio has DAB, the sound quality is provided by Bose.

The seats are comfortable, trying to mitigate as much as possible those few road bumps that cannot be picked up by 19-inch wheels with a sidewall ratio of just 45% of the tires the Mazda6 has been wrapped in. Of course, they don't feel as good on bumpy roads, but the experience of driving on flat roads is excellent. This is especially true for long trips, where the "six" turns out very well.

Many people will not be impressed with engine equipment in our anti-diesel times, but it is certainly true that Mazda has already adapted all of its engines to the new standards in time. Thus, the turbodiesel is now equipped with an additional selective catalytic reduction, that is also an additional tank for "blue". While driving, an engine with less power (eg 150 "horsepower") turns out to be quite powerful, especially at final speed (of course, tested on German tracks). Even in such driving conditions, the average consumption is very solid, if not surprisingly economical! Judging by this Mazda, long-range diesels are definitely worth it!

Thus, the Mazda6 retains everything that it has long been known for. But it's even better if it's still in the typical Mazda red metallic color. By the way - now the red color tone has changed, and this is just one of the small changes that the Japanese manufacturer from Hiroshima has mastered very well.

  • The classic proposal of a larger, almost five-meter vehicle convinces us that we could only add an automatic transmission.
