Short test: Nissan Qashqai 1.3 DIG TEKNA SS 160 DCT // Star Aid

For Nissan, the Qashqai has already become a winning combination. This is one of the best-selling hybrids, and it is he who is partially responsible for expanding its class.

However, the design (and the affordable price) is not enough for many. If Nissan won with the first generation, many later thought the design changes did not bring the expected. At the same time, the Japanese lagged slightly behind in engines, and even more so in gearboxes. The manual cannot be challenged, but the automaton. Until recently, the only option was a continuously variable transmission. CVTwho doesn't have many followers in Europe.

With the new 1,3-liter turbocharged petrol engine, however, things have turned upside down. In a positive direction, of course. The collaboration between Renault-Nissan and Daimler has created technologically advanced engines that are small, fairly economical and powerful. So it was in the test Qashqai. The 1,3 liter engine offers as many as 160 "horses" that Qashqai uses. If we add to this the new seven-speed DCT (dual clutch) transmission, the combination is perfect.... Due to the latter, the Qashqai accelerates from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour per second slower than the same engine with a manual transmission, but the DCT shows good performance and, in the end, also moderate gas mileage. But the fact is that not all gold shines.

If the gearbox is positively surprised, the speedometer and trip computer are negatively surprised. Even at low speeds, the deviation is large, and on highway 130, the actual speed is only 120 kilometers per hour. A similar percentage is taken in favor of the on-board computer, which, therefore, shows a much more economical consumption of gasoline than it actually is.

evaluation

  • The Qashqai has achieved a lot with the new engine, but for many, the new dual-clutch automatic transmission has been a real asset. Manual transmissions are out of fashion, it is becoming more and more obvious to Europeans as well, and the replacement is not a continuously variable transmission. This is also now clear.

We praise and reproach

Inaccurate speedometer (shows much higher speed)

Trip computer (shows much less power consumption than it actually is)
