Corsa. A name that hints at a sporty character without any additions. However, if I add the phrase GSi (which is shorter for Grand Sport injections), it quickly becomes clear where the taco dog is praying. And the new Opel Corsa s it is only about a thousand kilograms of dry weight - 140 less than its predecessor - Basically a real athlete who wants me to drive her around corners, especially with a GS-Line kit (no, she is not a thoroughbred GS, but ().

Weight information is critical to understanding vehicle performance and expectations. Test Corsa was under the hood only a 1,2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 100 "horsepower", which doesn't promise much on paper, but the very small engine is without a doubt its highlight.... With every turn of the key, it quickly comes to life and meets the driver with the recognizable, but surprisingly pleasantly sharp sound of a three-cylinder engine, which requires me to press the accelerator pedal a little more than driving in traffic jams in Ljubljana requires.

Enthusiasm does not subside either in the city, or outside it, or on the highway. The six-speed transmission - its lever position is higher than I expected, but the shifts between gears are still not too long - by far the best transmission in the group. In combination with the mentioned engine, it provides dynamic cornering, at the same time, in sixth gear on the highway, even at a speed of 130 km / h, the engine revolution counter does not exceed 3.000.

Hence, this is evident from the consumption, which is beneficial. On a normal lap, it was only 5,1 liters., even with dynamic driving, the indicator does not much exceed 6,5 liters. Thus, the low weight of the car is noticeable in this area as well as in handling. The chassis is set firmly and uniformly, but not too rigidly, which means that passengers in the first or second row won't feel it too much on their buttocks when driving over bumps or damaged roads.

In practice, the car handles well, and the body does not tilt during dynamic cornering, at least not too much, which is largely due to the transverse stabilizer.

But what makes the test Corso (apart from the lack of chrome, redesigned bumpers and rear spoiler) most noticeable against the background of regular sisters, small switch with the inscription Sport under the gear lever... Pressure on it further increases the responsiveness of the motor and greatly reduces the support for the electric servo amplifier. Under normal circumstances, this seems too favorable and even a little fruitless.

Another notable element in the interior is the front seats. They are covered in fabric but provide secure lateral support in both the lumbar and hip areas. I admit, however, that in recent years I have begun to adjust the car seat to a slightly more reclined position., however, in the Corsa, I instinctively set the seat back almost upright and a little closer to the steering wheel.

At the same time, I quickly noticed the above-average adjustable pillow, which provided me with sufficient support for my head even at a height of just under 190 centimeters. In fact, I missed out on the possibility of adjusting the lumbar region, or at least the more convex lower part of the seat, which otherwise offers lateral support.

Considering that it is The new Corsa, which has been present in Slovenia for less than a year, has a more analogous interior than one might expect, which is not a drawback.. The analog meters are well transparent and the onboard computer display is also exemplary. The only criticism I can give is the air conditioning, which is analog, doesn't offer fully automatic operation, and is quite a bit hidden under the infotainment screen. On the other hand, it is also characteristic of other cars in the PSA group and is transparent and responsive enough, but at the same time logical enough that I have no trouble finding certain features.

Opel engineers have taken an approach to developing (at least for now) the sportiest Corsa ever. 'less - more' and did the right thing. True, the power is slightly less than one might expect, the exterior practically does not indicate the origin of the car (16 inches is the diameter of the rims and the same in other versions), manual transmission is for an extra charge. is also available automatically, choosing one or the other, however, is just a matter of taste and preference - which is why they hit the mark.

I confess, after the last test and the fact that Opel recently unveiled the R4 class rally car based on the Corsa, I really want and hope that the Germans will also introduce in time Pravo corso gsi.
