Brief test: Opel Insignia 1.6T // Gasoline, why not?

We're not saying we should stop thinking about diesel engines, but with new technology and a great eight-speed automatic transmission, it's Insignia 1.6T with up to 200 horsepower carthat convinces in daily use. When children need to be driven to school or daycare in the morning, there is no stress with all the assistance technology available and the comfort offered by the seats, even when navigating the morning crowds when people behind the wheel tend to lose their temper. . The Insignia is a well-designed vehicle that provides the user with a pleasant working environment. The equipment level is director's, on the seats, steering wheel, fittings, doors - high-quality leather with beautiful seams ...

In short, wherever you look, all the details are beautifully thought out and crafted. However, its chapter is a large touchscreen, offering a logical system menu that you will quickly get used to. Getting to know the buttons on the steering wheel is a bit tricky, but we quickly got used to them as well. The infotainment system with phone systems turns into a real office on wheels, and in addition, the seats massage you if you feel tension in your back. The car is finished in red with eye-catching rims, it is pleasing to the eye, its lines are harmonious, elegant and sporty enough to evoke a pleasant feeling.

Brief test: Opel Insignia 1.6T // Gasoline, why not?

But the main thing that gives the most driving pleasure is the excellent engine and chassis, which provide a sporty cornering sequence, since driving comfort is not sacrificed due to position on the road. Driving performance is at a very high level for cars in this class. The four-cylinder petrol engine, which develops a very good power and torque curve with the help of a turbine, is undemanding to the driver. At cruising speed on the highway, there are no unpleasant noises in the cabin, as the car cuts through the air beautifully, and the engine does not go to high speeds due to a good gearbox. Well, except when the driver wants it. When you step on the gas pedal, that sporty side comes out Insignia has a top speed of over 200 kilometers per hour.... Unfortunately, fuel consumption is no longer acceptable, but when the revs increase, it increases to 15 liters.

However, with a calm but smooth ride, fuel consumption is surprisingly moderate. When driving, when you are good at tracking the movement and therefore release the gas on time, when the cars in front of you are braking or when you remain calm while accelerating and watching the engine rpm, consumption also drops below 7 liters. On a normal lap, the Insignia has proven itself with a flow rate of 7,6 liters., while otherwise it consumed 9,4 liters per 100 kilometers in the test. From an economic point of view, it is definitely an interesting choice as it offers a lot of comfort, luxury and, above all, driving pleasure.

evaluation

  • Opel calls it a flagship, and we can say they are right. It is a good business car with very rich and, above all, useful accessories that are kept at a high level. The petrol engine with automatic transmission can only be praised, with 200 "horsepower" and an acceleration of just under 8 seconds to 100 kilometers per hour, it definitely does not leave the driver indifferent.
