Gasoline, Diesel or Electricity? A question that buyers of the new Peugeot 2008 may also face. Judging by the offer in the latest generation of this Frenchman, the answer is unequivocal: the first choice is gasoline (three engines are available), the second and third are electricity and diesel. With the general climate in the automotive world, the latter seems to be in a subordinate position. Well, in practice it seems like it still doesn't miss anything. On the contrary, he has more than enough trump cards.

The engine is available in all versions of the 2008 diesel versions. one and a half liters of working volume, and the test model was equipped with a more powerful version, capable of developing 130 "horsepower".... On paper, this is enough to keep insurance costs within the normal range, but in practice, it is enough to account for even more dynamic factors. Every time, especially when cornering on the highway and accelerating, admired its torque distribution as well as the performance of the (serial) eight-speed automatic transmission.

In any case, this is one of the most striking features of the Peugeot car. Shifting is quick and almost imperceptible, and thanks to the perfectly tuned electronic brain, there is no need to select the Sport driving program for moderate driving, but the Eco program is enough. This was demonstrated during the performance of our normal tour. At the time, I avoided aggressive acceleration, but still just kept an eye on traffic.

Fuel consumption remained within the normal range, but far from the lowest. The high-set body and 1235 kilograms of dry weight make them themselves, so 2008 is spent on the norm. just over six liters of diesel... But be careful: the dynamic drive does not significantly increase consumption, so in the test it did not exceed seven and a half liters. The position of the car is always sovereign, the body tilts in corners and there is minimal servo intervention in the Sport program, which means that the driver has a good idea of what is happening under the wheels... The noise in the cabin is completely within the normal range.

The 2008 test car was equipped with the highest GT Line equipment package, which means many changes and additions, especially in the cabin. These include the sports seats, ambient lighting, and a few more metallic elements such as the GT lettering on the bottom of the steering wheel. The i-Cockpit digital gauges deserve special praise as they offer an extremely clear and detailed display of data thanks to their virtual XNUMXD effect.
