Short test: Peugeot 3008 1.6 HDi Style

And only the best is useful for posterity. Whether you like it or not, the pleasure of driving is subordinated to the convenience of using the car, as it is necessary that you have enough space for a stroller, a child's bike, perhaps a driver or a scooter and, of course, a trip in which diapers reign supreme. And if the child is bigger, the car is no longer just a means of transportation, but a travel house. Literally.

The Peugeot 3008 is such a car, a kind of bridge between wild youth and calm old age, where the most important thing in your car is a high driving position, so you can even jump into the driver's seat without additional pain. If you were to attribute the RCZ to a student (yes, you're right, a well-preserved Peugeot 205 would do well in these hard times too) and to older ones like 5008 or 807 - the 3008 is right in the middle. Not too big and therefore not too expensive, but with the equipment and ease of use needed for modern (I won't write spoiled, but I think so) families.

With a luggage compartment volume of 435 liters and three options, as you can use the sliding board to create a hidden corner for transporting small items, or raise the rack to the same height as the rear bench folds down (and thus get a perfectly flat rack.) 3008 will fully satisfy even large families.

Even the rear bench, which, unfortunately, cannot move longitudinally, is spacious enough for older children, and you will be very cramped in the front seats. Thanks to the large center console, which also protrudes between the front seats, you feel like you are sitting in the front of a smaller car. Personally, I don't mind this solution, as it is as convenient as the dashboard hidden to the driver, but some people see this as a disadvantage rather than an added value. As a result, there was more than enough equipment on the test machine.

Four airbags, side airbags for all passengers, ESP, cruise control and speed limiter, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, 17-inch alloy wheels and a Cielo panoramic glass roof come standard and include hands-free navigation. speed on the windshield and sunblind on the rear side doors (actually close by). We only lacked the front parking sensors as the test car only had rear parking assistance.

A modern 1,6-liter turbodiesel with 115 "horses" is the type that meets the basic needs and takes your breath away on long descents next to a fully loaded car. However, if you drive the six-speed manual carefully and shift fast enough, the engine will satisfy you with low average fuel consumption. During the test, we measured only 6,6 liters per 100 kilometers, which is a good indicator for such a large modern car.

So don't complain about young people and RCZ in any way. (probably previously revised 206): Even middle-aged people have their own charm. They are not that wild or so unpredictable, but living in a young family is very pleasant. And the useful car plays a big role in this.
