Short test: Renault Clio 2.0 16V RS Akrapovich Edition

If you read the Paris Salon report carefully, you already know that the new Clio RS will have a 1,6-liter turbo engine with 200 "horsepower". When Honda unveils the new naturally aspirated Civic Typa-R that's not official yet, but almost reliable, we'll only see the roaring XNUMX-liter naturally aspirated athletes in museums.

This is why the Renault Clio RS Akrapovič Edition is so much more important. The fruit of domestic knowledge offers everything from a small rocket: height, voice and adrenaline. All together a little less than 22 thousand, taking into account the discount.

You will recognize it by the complete carbon fiber exhaust system, three plates of the same material (rear, interior, third replacement), roof decals and a laser-engraved logo on the lid. aluminum gear lever. Together with a special pearl white color, it looks restrained and at the same time pleasant. The only remark about the stickers on the roof, because for greater strength, the roof could be painted, not glued. But these are sweet worries when you start the engine ...

It remains only to bow to the technique. Maybe the Cup chassis is already a bit too race-oriented, but the combination of excellent positioning, energetic engine, great six-speed gearbox, and noise from the exhaust pipes captivates you and then becomes addictive.

Although for 50 such cars (20 of them for the Slovenian market), only the gas flow through two mufflers and stainless steel pipes was optimized, thus saving four kilograms and getting two "horses" and four Newton meters of torque, and finally ... but the handcrafted carbon fiber finish guarantees exclusivity. Are you saying too little for too much money?

Also take a look at the excellent Recar seats, forced-cooled brake discs with red Brembo brake calipers, 17-inch alloy wheels, RS Monitor to display individual times on the race track ... But if that's not enough for you, consider the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system, which not approved for road use. This one just thunders ...

In addition, a legal toy for older children picks up the harsh sound and occasional crackle from the exhaust system when the throttle is released, while at the same time it becomes a little annoying at a constant 130 km / h speed on the highway. ... We already know that despite the lower torque at lower revs and lower results in fuel consumption and environmental pollution, we will miss sports naturally aspirated engines. So I appreciate the Clia RS from Akrapovič, a great product from Renault Sport and Akrapovič. We would still ... Hmm, hello Renault Slovenia, what do you say to the supertest?
