Short test: Renault Megane Coupe dCi 130 Bose Edition

Black feet, tinted windows, nice 17-inch rims. Such Renault coupes can attract a lot of looks, as if they are sitting in at least some heavy Jaguar or BMW. So you can also give the price a thumbs up as you get a good two-seater for a moderate amount of money. Well, because it is designed for four, but almost like any coupe for two, but in fact - for one. Driver.

You just have to get used to the high driving position, the delicate materials around the shift lever, and the combination of analog and digital display on the dash. But let yourself be pampered with a Bose audio system, leather interior and the best idea, a smart card. Dynamic drivers will have only two comments on this car: power steering and ESP.

The power steering is electrically driven, which is felt at the starting point when the job is started, and at full operation (turning) there are no problems. Unfortunately, the ESP stabilization system is not disabled. Therefore, in addition to the switch for disabling the anti-skid system of the driving wheels, we could also take care of disabling the ESP and thus the joy of the (good) driver without the restrictive electronic means that would be written on the skin of a sports car.

Turbodiesel, what about sports? It is possible, although when fully accelerated, it does not move so fast that these 130 "sparks" will impress you. But they're impressive where we need them most: on the highway. At 100 km / h in fifth or sixth gear, the Megane coupe pushes you into excellent seats every time, and the slow ones soon fall far behind. If you bring the equipment to the end, as we did in the Auto store, then the consumption will also be about 7,5 liters. Some of them come at the expense of wide tires, and some, of course, at the expense of a dynamic driver. We're sure this will be more economical too, but then you don't need a sports coupe.

If your friends tease you that the Megane Coupe has a Bose sound system that mutes the noise of the turbo diesel engine, ignore them. It's just envy.

evaluation

  • Coupe with Bose audio system and retractable turbo diesel? Maybe not the best combination (you know, a powerful gasoline turbo engine is more suitable for a coupe), but perhaps the most rational solution in our time.
