Short test: Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSI (77 kW) FR

Previous versions of Ibiza got lost in the everyday dullness of automotive sheet metal, but look at this new Ibiza. You just can't deny that design boldness is going in the wrong direction. In photographs, he does not yet look as outstanding as it is noticeable in everyday movement. LED daytime running lights are even more painful when they appear in front of us.

It is true that in this case it is the FR version, which in Seat means the sporty and well-equipped version of the equipment. However, even sharper touches on the body and bumpers suggest that they left Seat's designers more freedom to work.

FR hardware is no longer just for the most powerful version. The test car was powered by a 1,2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which has a rather harsh nature. Dynamic, good torque and fairly quiet. It's a shame it's only available in conjunction with an otherwise well-timed five-speed transmission, but given that highway driving is our increasingly frequent daily routine, sixth gear will still fit.

The interior is drier than the exterior and has fewer changes compared to the previous version. The FR equipment improves the impression with sports seats and a leather steering wheel.

There may be more storage space inside (especially between the front seats). Under the fittings there is a place for a tin can, which usually sucks in all the little things from the pockets (keys, phone, wallet). However, if we decide to put in a half-liter bottle, it will not stand because there is an air conditioner above it. Unfortunately, Ibiza cannot boast of the size of a closed box in front of the navigator. And even there, the dashboard is classically bulky, so there is less space in the right seat. The rest of the materials are of high quality and workmanship is suitable. The ergonomics are well thought out, fits well. During the test, four passengers made one longer trip, and even behind the driver there was no displeasure with the lack of space.

The ride in Ibiza is pretty smooth. The FR version is equipped with a slightly stiffer sports chassis, which, of course, led to a loss of comfort for the car, but at the same time it has better driving characteristics, which, in all honesty, are not bad for a regular Ibiza. The slip limit is still set high on the scale, and a well-functioning stabilization system warns you of moderate exaggeration at first.

From a technical standpoint, the Ibiza is a great car, as its pedigree comes from the perfect German family concern. For those who want a similar technique in a slightly spicier disguise, this green version of Ibiza is perfect. Only the interior is a bit cold from an emotional point of view. To finish with the price: a good 14 thousand without additional equipment. Our offer from the list of "sweets": excellent xenon headlights and flashy green color.
