Brief Test: Toyota Aygo 1.0 VVT-i X-Cite Bi-Tone // Generation X?

Generation X is said to belong to people born between 1965 and 1980. Is young Aygo really looking for his audience in this generation? We would say no to the first ball. But still, if we look at the characteristics of this generation, we find quite a lot in common. Gen X is considered independent, sovereign, and experienced in personal and electronic communication. So that one who does not want to get lost in everyday dullness and is not afraid of otherness. Now let's look at the new Aygo. But maybe there is only something on it ...

Toyota Aygo has undergone a facelift after four years on the market. To achieve a three-dimensional effect, they significantly redesigned the front of the car and equipped it with a new radiator grill and bumper, which clearly indicate the letter X with their bulge. The taillights are also new. In this way, they only expanded the individualization offering that previously marked this model.

The interior has also been updated, as in addition to new color combinations and some materials, the greatest attention was paid to the modernization of the infotainment system. It now has a seven-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard that allows it to connect to smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols, can respond to voice control, and display a camera image on the back of the car.

As a user, Aygo offers us a pretty good experience if we expect it to be exactly what it is for. He will carry out day-to-day urban affairs with distinction, as he is manageable, agile and, above all, finding a parking space with him will be a snack. It also won't disappoint in terms of roominess, at least as long as only two passengers are present during the trip. A third or fourth in the rear will need a little more adjustment and compression. Five doors make it easier to enter and exit, but the opening angle of the door is still too small, and sometimes some acrobatic movements have to be performed. The trunk for 168 liters may not promise, but it is still capable of "swallowing" two suitcases.

While the drive to reduce CO emissions has been at the forefront of the engine overhaul.2, the three-liter liter has added a little. Thanks to improved combustion efficiency and an increased compression ratio, it can now squeeze out 53 kilowatts of power and 93 Newton-meters of torque, bringing the Ayga to 13,8 in 3,8 seconds. The five-speed manual transmission has also been slightly tweaked as the slightly extended fourth and fifth gears have been slightly widened in favor of more tolerant highway driving. In laboratory conditions, the Aygo should have achieved a flow rate of 100 liters per XNUMX kilometers, but on our standard lap the meter showed five liters.

Ayga prices start at a good ten thousand, but since the customization options are significant, that number could rise slightly. If you recognize yourself in the Generation X specs and are looking for a fun city car, Aygo is the right choice.
