Jeep Compass crossover gets a new engine

Jeep introduced the compact Compass crossover for the 2021 model in the European market, as well as a new engine. The car for the EU is currently manufactured by FCA in the Italian municipality of Melfi. He previously moved to Europe from Mexico.

The 1,3-liter four-cylinder gasoline turbo engine replaced the previous four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1,4 liters. It is available with two power levels: 130 hp. and 150 hp (The maximum torque in both cases is 270 Nm). The first works with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the more powerful one combines with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two dry clutches.

In addition, the European Jeep Compass is available with a 1,6-liter 120 hp diesel engine, manual transmission and front-wheel drive.

The crossover versions with both transmissions have only a hybrid drive system based on a 1,3-liter gasoline engine, paired with an electric motor and battery. The installation is available in two power options: 190 hp and 240 hp

In addition to the new engines, the Jeep Compass gets an improved steering system, as well as lighter upgraded shock absorbers. Crossover sales will begin this summer. Prices will be announced later.

The Jeep Compass is now available with a 2,4-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine rated at 150 and 175 hp, a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
