Toyota Fortuner crossover has become more powerful and attractive

The updated Toyota Fortuner crossover was introduced in Thailand. The main update is the diesel engine 2.8: now the four-cylinder 1GD-FTV turbo engine develops 204 hp. (+27) and 500 Nm (+50). He got an improved cooling system and consumes 17% less fuel in urban mode. The same unit has just received an updated Toyota Hilux pickup based on which Fortuner was built.

The second generation Fortuner was waiting for the update four years after its premiere. The headlights are now LED, and for an additional fee on the LEDs there will be turn signals. The radiator grill retains the form factor, but changes the internal structure. The front bumper with streaks of lights is new, and the rear is the same.

Now Fortuner has received a load capacity of 300 kg more (3100). Dark blue body color is new. The dimensions of the model have not changed: 4795 × 1855 × 1835 mm, wheelbase - 2745 mm, ground clearance - 225 mm.

The 2.8 turbo engine is mounted on the top version with a dual transmission, while conventional Fortuner rear-wheel drive modifications are still equipped with a 2.4 diesel engine (150 hp, 400 Nm). In the Thai market, a six-speed automatic transmission is the only one. In other markets, Fortuner has five and six speed manual gearboxes for a 2,7-liter naturally aspirated engine (163 hp).

The new media system is equipped with an eight-inch touch screen (previously there were seven). Of course, there are voice commands, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The dashboard has improved graphics. Engine operating modes now change in three positions instead of two.

The most expensive Fortuner is available with the new Legender modification. Customers are available with modern LED lights, a two-tone body, shiny black accents, 20-inch wheels, etc.

The price range in Thailand is from 1319 baht. ($000) to 41 baht. ($930). In 1839, Thais bought 000 Fortuner crossovers, Filipinos 58, Indonesians 460 and Indians 2019.
