New Lexus RZ unveiled.

Lexus appears to have used its annual sales briefing to confirm that its new RZ will hit the production line unchanged from previously released "designer" images, and the electric SUV will arrive in a sleek and sporty offering that could eventually outshine his Toyota bZ4X. and the Subaru Solterra siblings.

While the images released in December were tagged "Design" - suggesting they were still in the concept stage - they are now simply tagged "Lexus RZ 450e", hinting that we are now looking at the finished product.

Lexus, Toyota and Subaru are closely related and use the same e-TNGA fundamentals, but the design of the Lexus variant is clearly meant to make it stand out.

While Toyota has a sleek front end finish, the Lexus RZ takes the EV on that brand's spindle-style front end with a square center panel that results in two intricate edge designs that interact with the rest. Lexus family.

The rear of the car is also significantly different, with Lexus reducing the size of the rear brake lights so they form a single line of light that stretches from end to end.

Although the details surrounding the new RZ have yet to be revealed, some key elements have been identified by the Japanese media.

Local media speculate that the new model will be similar in size to the RX, at around 4890mm long, 1895mm wide and 1690mm high, making it slightly longer, wider and taller than the bZ4X.

The local media is also advising the RZ to outdo its Toyota sibling where it counts. The BZ4X is equipped with a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery providing a range of 460 km and (in all-wheel drive versions) two 80 kW motors providing a total output of 160 kW.

While power figures have yet to be revealed, the RZ is expected to outperform Toyota and could also get a bigger battery for longer range. In fact, the local press points to the LF-Z concept as an inspiration, which was powered by a 90kWh lithium-ion battery and produced 400kW and 700Nm - though they suggest those numbers may not be entirely achievable.

Then the big question is, how much? Lexus hasn't confirmed pricing yet, but Toyota in Australia has already warned that the bZ4X won't be cheap, so you can expect its more premium sibling to be priced much higher.
