Buy a used car in Germany

Germany for many of our motorists is a real paradise. Judge for yourself: this country has some of the best roads in the world, only high-quality fuel is sold at gas stations - European standards are very strict in this sense, the Germans themselves are famous for their punctuality and accuracy, and this is reflected in their attitude towards cars.

It is not difficult to assume that any German car, which in itself is of excellent build quality, after a certain period of operation will look much better than a similar model that was operated in Russia. You don't even need to take Russia.

In Holland, the quality of roads is no worse than in Germany, but cars from this country are not in the same demand here, because the humid climate has a very strong effect on the condition of the body, and bodywork is known to be the most expensive.

That is why used cars from Germany have always been in demand, even after the introduction of too high import duties, among motorists of vast Russia - or rather its European part, because used cars from Japan predominate in the Far East.

If you choose a car well - and the Germans are very fond of changing their cars, especially when the numbers on the odometer approach 100 thousand - then it will look almost like new, after all, it was operated in ideal conditions.

How much does a car from Germany cost?

Of course, in matters of cost it is difficult to make any generalizations; concrete examples are more illustrative. Let's say that buying a new car in Germany is not profitable - the prices are the same as in Moscow car dealerships, plus you will have to pay serious taxes for a new car:

  • 54% of the cost if the price is up to 8,5 thousand euros;
  • 48% if more than 8,5 thousand euros.

But there is one more clarification in the law: 54 or 48 percent, but not less than a certain rate for one cubic centimeter of engine volume, and this rate can range from 2,5 to 20 Euro per “cube”, depending on the volume and power of the engine. In a word, the option of buying new cars in Germany is no longer possible. It is also worth noting that a vehicle is considered new if it was released at least 3 years ago.

It is most profitable to buy cars produced 3-5 years ago. Why are they like this? Because:

  • it is for such a period that the Germans, on average, drive 80-150 thousand km and put the car up for sale;
  • customs duties and taxes are reduced.

Let's take a simple example.

We go to the most famous German site Mobile.de, where ads are posted for the sale of used, new, and even unusable cars. We are looking for any model and brand, for example Volkswagen Golf, the date of the first registration within 2009-2011. Several thousand options appear, and the price is indicated in Gross and Net - that is, with and without VAT.

Net price - for citizens of the European Union, it includes 19 percent VAT. Individuals from Russia also pay including VAT, however, after the car crosses the customs borders of the EU, the seller must reimburse these 19 percent, that is, return it to the buyer. Benefit in person. Many intermediary companies that sell and deliver used cars from Germany to Russia will immediately offer you to buy a car at a Net price, although they will also estimate their services at approximately 10% plus delivery.

After you decide on a model, for example, a 2010 VW Golf IV Team at a Net / Gross price of 9300/7815 Euro, find any customs calculator and calculate how much you will have to pay all kinds of taxes. Enter the price Netto, engine size, horsepower. or kW, age, engine type, individual. As a result, it turns out that with all taxes, this car will cost you 7815 + 2440 = 10255 Euros.

For comparison, we go to any Russian ad site, look for a similar model, we find the price range in the range of 440 to 600 thousand rubles. Taking into account the current Euro exchange rate, we are convinced that there is practically no difference - 492 thousand for the same Golf, but he ran along the best German roads in the world.

True, you will still have to pay for the delivery of the car to the customs point in Russia. There are several options here:

  • self-delivery - through Poland and Belarus with transit numbers, this is about 3 thousand km (it will take about 180-200 liters of gasoline);
  • by ferry to St. Petersburg - approximately 400 Euros;
  • transportation by trailer, through private "distillers" or a company - an average of 1000-1200 Euros.

It turns out that a car in good condition from Germany can be bought at the same price as in Russia. Of course, there will be a number of associated costs, especially if you personally go to inspect the model you like. By the way, this is an ideal option, because a non-German car with a dark past can be ordered to order. Registration of all papers under the sale and purchase agreement, as well as obtaining export license plates will cost 180-200 Euros. In principle, this is where all the expenses end, and even if the result is an amount slightly higher than the average cost of similar used cars in Russia, then not by much. Keep in mind that these “reduced” duties only apply to cars aged 3-5 years.
