LDW - Lane Departure Warning

Lane Departure Warning is a device that alerts a distracted driver when crossing a lane that limits their Volvo and Infiniti lanes.

The LDW is activated using a button on the center console and warns the driver with a soft acoustic signal if the car crosses one of the lanes for no apparent reason, for example, without using a direction indicator.

The system also uses a camera to monitor the position of the vehicle between the lane markings. LDW starts at 65 km / h and remains active until the speed drops below 60 km / h. However, the quality of the signage is essential for the system to function properly. The longitudinal stripes bordering the traffic lane must be clearly visible to the camera. Insufficient lighting, fog, snow and extreme weather conditions can make the system inaccessible.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) identifies the vehicle's lane, measures its position in relation to the lane, and provides instructions and warnings (acoustic, visual and / or tactile) of unintentional lane / carriageway deviations, for example, the system does not intervene when the driver turns on the direction indicator, signaling his intention to change lanes.

The LDW system detects various types of road markings; solid, dashed, rectangular, and cat's eyes. In the absence of signaling devices, the system can use the edges of the road and sidewalks as reference materials (patent pending).

It works even at night when the headlights are on. The system is especially useful to help the driver avoid skidding due to drowsiness or distraction on low-focus roads such as motorways or long straight lines.
