The Lexus RC F is one of the last bastions of naturally aspirated V8 engines. However, it was introduced 5 years ago. Is it still worth watching?

The Lexus RC F debuted at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. We have been observing him in the same form for 5 years already - he has not undergone any facelift, even the most insignificant one. However, an updated version should hit the market soon.

So let's take this opportunity to take one last look at the 2018 model.

Despite the years, the Lexus RC F still looks good

Lexus RC F looks really cool. Compared to normal RC it has a different - more expressive - front bumper, air intakes on the hood, wider wheel arches and characteristic four pipes in the bumper. Real.

At the rear we will also see an active spoiler, which automatically extends at speeds above 80 km/h and retracts below 40 km/h. However, sometimes the car becomes capricious and when we want to pull out the spoiler with the button, something prevents us from doing this. On wheels, 19-inch forged wheels offer more strength, yet are light enough.

Lexus RC FOr even radio-controlled cars aren't particularly popular in Poland - after all, a coupe isn't very practical. Therefore, we can say that he is approaching. restyling RC Fa - at least in terms of appearance - this is more a tribute to customers than a real need. However, if it competes with Mercedes or BMW, tweaking a few details will definitely help.

Can you feel the summer inside

The interior of the Lexus RC F no longer looks as modern as other brands. It seems to have everything you need - sports seats, a high-end audio system and various security systems. The buttons in the cabin, and especially the interface of the multimedia system, remind us of the automotive industry not only 5 years ago, but even 10 years ago ...

However, quality is timeless. Sports seats are trimmed in leather, as are the dashboard, door sides and more. The interior of the Lexus was created a little differently than that of the German competitor.

This is due to the fact that plastic is increasingly used in Germany, and where leather is already present, it is usually quite soft. You can feel that there is a lot of foam underneath. The Lexus, on the other hand, has less plastic and more leather, but it's a little harder underneath. This is the "fault" of the so-called integrated foam - it's just that Lexus uses a slightly different technology here.

However, the chairs are excellent, specifically designed to put as little pressure on the ischial region as possible. For the same reason, routes that until now seemed long can be "tightened immediately" in RC F.

There is only one verdict here - comfort is timeless, but technology as such can really be refreshed.

Exclusive Lexus RC F engine

Lexus RC F however, it's not so much the interior and exterior as it is the engine. It is with him that the rest becomes, in principle, irrelevant.

After all, this is an atmospheric five-liter V8 with a capacity of 463 hp. and 520 Nm of torque. Enough R "Pulls" regardless of speed. Power reserve is huge, available anytime, anywhere.

But wait a minute R was it not always 477 hp? That's right - successive changes in exhaust emissions and measurement standards have forced Lexus to reduce power. One could complain, but it's only 14 hp. for something so much more. Even with the current limits, the naturally aspirated V8 still has a chance to survive.

Trip RC F-em so it's even more special. This is a car made with Japanese precision. The 8-speed automatic transmission recognizes overloads and therefore almost always uses the correct gears. In addition, they change very quickly and smoothly.

On top of that, of course, there's a range of cutting-edge technologies such as the two-stroke engine and torque-vectoring TVD. This is not a "good old V8 coupe", but a modern coupe with a modern - albeit naturally aspirated - V8.

Of course, the front of the car is quite heavy and on very twisty and slow roads Lexus RC F it gets pretty understeered but handles fast corners just fine. Despite rear-wheel drive, we feel confident enough to corner at surprisingly high speeds, even on wet surfaces. This is also thanks to TVD.

Lexus reports an average fuel consumption of 11,3 l/100 km and about 16,5 l/100 km. With very careful driving we will keep about 13 l / 100 km, but in reality it is very difficult to do this. Why? Because the V8 gets a second life above 4 rpm, which means we are more likely to find ourselves in the zone of increased fuel consumption. So it is necessary to take into account the level of 000-20 l / 25 km.

Lexus RC F It is available in three trim levels - Elegance, Carbon and Prestige. Prices start from PLN 397 in the lowest of these versions. For the Carbon version we will have to pay at least 900 zlotys, and for the Prestige... about 468 zlotys. less zlotys.

We can buy additional packages - choose from 14 options. Prices range from PLN 900 for Lava Orange brake calipers with F logo to PLN 22 for a TVD sports differential with torque distribution.

Competitive prices Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe from 418 thousand. zloty. The Mercedes is a great car, a little more advanced in handling, but if you're looking for something niche - Lexus RC F will work great.

Lifting will be helpful, but not necessary. Lexus RC F looks… interesting

Lexus RC F it looks peculiar but also resists the teeth of time. However, the strongest point of this program is the naturally aspirated large V8 engine, which is quite rare on the market. The alternative would only be much cheaper here Mustang GT.

So, focusing on controllability, w RC F-т.е. you don't need to change anything. He's not perfect, but that only adds to his character. As for the appearance, we are waiting for a new multimedia system. Rather, the changes in appearance will only serve to re-discover this model for some buyers - and very well, because it's worth it.
