Lyon claims its future bike trail

The future Express Bike Network (REV) of the Lyon metropolis is expected to be part of the Territory's 2026-2021 investment program by 2026.

At a meeting on January 25, the Lyon Metropolitan Council approved an investment plan of 3.6 billion euros for the period 2021-2026. As part of this global package, almost 580 million euros will be spent on the development of alternative modes of transportation for the private car. In addition to car sharing, car sharing and the expansion of the public transport network, the metropolis announces the creation of REV, its Express Bicycle Chain.

Métropole de Lyon is not the first city to announce the creation of bicycle highways. A few months ago, the collective Vélo le-de-France envisioned the future of RER Vélo for the Ile-de-France region.

Safer parking

Since the lack of secure parking spaces is also a major obstacle for users, Metropolis plans to create 15 additional spaces, mainly near multimodal transport hubs. At the same time, the number of arches on the road will quadruple. It is enough to bring the total number of parking spaces on the territory to 000 thousand.

Support for cycling and e-biking is another important area in the capital's plan. Pioneer of self-service cyclists with Vélo'V, Metropolis intends to create new services: long-term rentals, donations for people in danger, repair shops, starting a practice…
