Liqui Moly Ceratec additive
For the first time, Liquid Moli introduced Ceratec to the Russian market in 2004. Since then, this additive has not undergone any major changes in terms of chemical composition. Only the packaging design has been changed.
By its nature, Liqui Moly Ceratec belongs to the group of anti-friction and protective additives. It was created on the basis of two main active components:
- organic molybdenum - levels and strengthens the surface, working layer of metal in friction pairs, increases its heat resistance;
- boron nitrides (ceramics) - smoothes out microroughnesses through the so-called fluid leveling, reduces the coefficient of friction.
Unlike the younger Molygen Motor Protect from the same company, Ceratec is intended primarily for motors running on full-viscosity oils. It is not recommended to fill it in modern Japanese engines, in which friction surfaces are designed for lubricants with a viscosity of 0W-16 and 0W-20. For these engines it is better to choose Motor Protect.
The manufacturer talks about the following positive effects after using the additive:
- reduction of noise and vibration feedback during engine operation;
- alignment of the engine by restoring compression in the cylinders;
- slight reduction in fuel consumption, on average by 3%;
- engine protection under extreme loads;
- significant extension of engine life.
The additive mixes well with any full-viscosity oils, does not precipitate, does not affect the final properties of the lubricant itself and does not enter into chemical reactions with it.
Instructions for use
The composition of Ceratec is available in 300 ml vials. The price of one can fluctuates around 2000 rubles. The bottle is designed for 5 liters of engine oil. However, the additive can be safely poured into engines with a total lubricant volume of 4 to 6 liters.
The protective composition is compatible with gasoline and diesel engines equipped with catalytic converters (including multi-level) and particulate filters. Low ash content does not have a noticeable negative effect on the exhaust gas cleaning elements.
Before using the additive, it is recommended to flush the lubrication system. The composition is poured into fresh oil on a warm engine. It starts to work fully after 200 km of run.
On average, the additive is designed for 50 thousand kilometers or 3-4 oil changes, after which it should be updated. However, in Russian operating conditions, which are often severe, the manufacturer recommends using the composition more often, after about 30-40 thousand kilometers.
Reviews of minders
Professional minders and experienced car owners in the vast majority of reviews and their complaints speak positively about the Liqui Moly Ceratec additive. Unlike some other products of a similar nature, which often create solid or clotted deposits and emit soot particles that clog cleaning systems when burned in cylinders, the composition of Ceratec does not have such disadvantages. And even opponents of third-party oil additives are forced to admit that there are positive effects from the work of this composition.
Service station specialists and ordinary motorists note several of the most pronounced effects:
- reduction of the "appetite" of the engine in terms of fuel from 3 to 5% and a significant reduction in oil consumption for waste;
- reduction of noise and vibration, which is felt by the human senses and is noticeable even without the use of special measuring instruments;
- facilitated winter starting at frosts close to the freezing point of engine oil;
- the disappearance of the knock of hydraulic lifters;
- smoke reduction.
For some motorists, the price of the additive remains a controversial point. Many lesser-known companies offer oil supplements with a similar effect at a significantly lower cost. However, brand-name formulations with time-tested effects have always been more expensive than similar supplements from smaller companies.
