Litol-24. Characteristics and application
General characteristics
Litol-24 grease (the first two letters in the name indicate the presence of lithium soap, the number 24 is the average viscosity value) is a domestic product.
Distinctive features of the lubricant are high antifriction properties, the ability to hold well on the contact surface, antioxidant properties, chemical stability over a wide temperature range, and extreme pressure properties. This predetermines the use of Litol-24 in friction bearing units, where increased viscosity is undesirable.
In modern friction systems, Litol-24 has replaced such traditional lubricants as CIATIM-201 and CIATIM-203, the load capacity of which no longer provides the desired characteristics. The areas of application of the product are indicated in GOST 21150-87, according to the technical requirements of which this lubricant is produced. This is:
- Wheeled and tracked vehicles.
- Moving parts of technological equipment - shafts, axles, splines, hinges, etc.
- Preservative lubricant.
The composition of the lubricant under consideration also includes additives and fillers, for example, surfactants that improve its thermal and chemical stability.
What is Litol used for?
The general characteristics and application of Litol-24 are determined by its operational parameters given in GOST 21150-87:
- Viscosity range, P - 80 ... 6500.
- The maximum allowable load on the friction unit, N - 1410.
- The highest temperature, ° С - 80.
- drop point, °C, not lower - 180 ... 185.
- Flash point °C, not lower - 183.
- Specific rupture force of the lubricating layer, Pa - 150 ... 1100 (lower values - at critical application temperatures).
- Acid number in terms of KOH - 1,5.
- Physical stability during thickening, %, no more than - 12.
The product has a yellow or brown color, the consistency of the ointment should be homogeneous.
Grease Litol-24 is most appropriate as a grease for bearings, which during their operation are heated to temperatures of 60 ... 80°C. Lubrication is ineffective at low temperatures, since it loses its lubricating properties already at -25 ... -30°C.
Test tests have confirmed the effectiveness of this lubricant in conditions of high humidity, since its composition prevents the penetration of water or moisture into friction zones. Litol-24 grease does not have corrosive activity; it also belongs to the category of low-risk to humans.
How much does Litol-24 cost?
Certified lubricant manufacturers determine its cost in sales centers from 90000 to 100000 rubles. per ton (due to the peculiarities of production, the so-called “light” Litol is cheaper than “dark”, although this does not affect the characteristics of the product).
The price of Litol-24, depending on its packaging, is:
- in a container of 10 kg - 1400 ... 2000 rubles;
- in a container of 20 kg - 1800 ... 2500 rubles;
- in a barrel 195 kg - 8200 ... 10000 rubles.
Mobil Unirex EP2 is considered the closest foreign analogue of the lubricant.
