Windshields of cars are subject to regeneration. They are laminated and therefore expensive. Therefore, their repair is beneficial. The most common damage to glass is cracks and puncture damage called "eyes" caused by pebbles and even micrometeorites. The method of repair depends on the technique used, of which there are several. Basically, a special resin mass is used to fill the cavities, the density of which is selected depending on the size of the cavity. The adhesive material is injected into the crack and then hardens, for example, under the action of ultraviolet rays. The durability of such regeneration is very high.
– It is important to have your windshield repaired as soon as possible after damage. It is filled with impurities that corrode the glass. During precipitation or in winter, together with snow, water with minerals and dust enters the crack, which, after evaporation, form a mass that cannot be removed from the cavity. In this case, regeneration is impossible and glass has to be changed, which, of course, is more expensive. If there is no possibility of immediate repair, it is worth at least temporarily sealing the place of damage, says Bogdan Voshcherovich, owner of TRZASK-ULTRA-BOND, a professional car glass repair company.
It is not recommended to regenerate the windscreen belt at driver's eye level. Changes in the glass structure can cause the driver to see the road in a blurry or distorted way, which poses a risk to road safety.
The price of the service is determined individually, taking into account the scale of the damage. The estimated cost of regeneration is PLN 100 for cracks up to 10 cm long. This is somewhere around 70-80 percent. less than you have to pay for new glass. However, in case of serious damage, it is recommended to replace the entire glass.
