Lotus offers new certificate of origin

Lotus Cars recently offered to (own) a certificate of origin to brand owners. The Hettel manufacturer wants to open this program with the Lotus Esprit Series 3 Turbo, which is owned by brand founder Colin Chapman.

The Certificate of Origin offered by Lotus Cars is presented in a box called "For Drivers" containing three elements.

The Certificate of Origin, printed on quality paper, primarily contains certain information related to the vehicle, with its VIN number, date of assembly at Lotus Cars showrooms, date of handover to sales, body color or characteristics.

The second document is the Vehicle Production Letter, which details the vehicle's specifications and provides information regarding the engine and transmission, equipment included, and options offered. Lotus Cars archives are used to compile this document.

Finally, the third part of this set is offered by Phil Pofam, CEO of Lotus Cars: a letter of thanks signed by the latter to thank the customer for purchasing the brand's model.

In addition to these documents, this box will contain a set of Lotus collectibles, including, inter alia, an aluminum plate engraved with the owner's name and information from the certificate of origin, a leather Lotus keychain, a carbon fiber marker representing the nine most important victories brand in motorsport, a gift box with four badges and a Lotus ink pen.

The first certificate of origin was issued for a Lotus Esprit Series 3 Turbo (chassis #0970) used by Colin Chapman as a company car since 1981. This car has a metallic gray finish, red leather interior, features unique to this model such as its BBS wheels, power steering, lowered chassis, modified bodywork, and the presence of pollen filters (Chapman's Colic was allergic to pollen). The founder of Lotus Cars would drive over 7000 km (the model now has over 17 km) before his death in December 500.

“There was no better way to launch a Certificate of Origin than to show how you can trace the history of the unique Lotus Esprit Turbo,” explains Phil Popham. “The Lotus Archives is an exclusive database that can provide extensive information on every car brand. This is the perfect gift for any Lotus model owner.”

Drivers' box price including Certificate of Origin is available from all Lotus dealers for £ 170 excluding postage (€ 188) in the UK.
