Since November 20, 2016, wearing motorcycle gloves has become mandatory for users of motorized two-wheeled vehicles, tricycles and quads without additional equipment. These gloves must meet homologation standards. Motorcycle gloves are classified as PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Therefore, any motorcycle gloves must comply with the EN 13594 standard in order to be approved.

The latest version of this standard (EN 13594: 2015) defines two levels of protection: level 1 (labeled 1KP) and level 2 (labeled 2KP). Level 1KP indicates biker gloves with finger joint protectors, while level 2KP represents the highest level of protection.
