Lada Priora engine and gearbox oils

If you are the first owner of your Priora, and the car was bought from an authorized dealer in a car dealership, then most likely the engine was filled with Lukoil mineral oil, as well as in the gearbox. Usually, many car sales managers recommend not to change this oil, since it is better to run in a mineral water. But in fact, this is not justified by anything and you should not trust such words.

But as for the recommendations of Avtovaz on the use of engine and transmission oils, the table for engines is as follows.

What oils to fill in the Priora engine

Recommended oils for Priora

As you can see, from the table above, you can see that the range of brands and classes is quite extensive, and there is plenty to choose from even on the basis of these recommendations. Although, you can choose not only from this list, since there are now many more options on the domestic market that you can choose.

The main thing to look for when buying engine oil is the climate in which your Priora will most often be operated. That is, the lower the air temperature, the more fluid the oil should be (less viscous). Conversely, if the car is mostly operated at high air temperatures (hot climate), then the oil should be more viscous, that is, thicker. This is shown in more detail in the diagram below:

oil viscosity classes for Priora

As you can see, for the majority of car owners in central Russia, oil of the 10W40 class will be quite acceptable, and in winter, full synthetics 5W30 will be the most suitable option.

As for the oils for the Lada Priora gearbox, the synthetic one would be the best option.

  1. Firstly, the noise from the gearbox will be slightly less from the use of such oil.
  2. Secondly, there will be fewer problems with starting the engine during winter periods.

If you look at the recommendations of Avtovaz for transmission oils, then you can again give the table:

And for temperature conditions, the table below is given:

If you want to extend the life of the Priora engine and the gearbox, then it is best not to spare money on fuels and lubricants and use only synthetic oils. They not only have all sorts of additives that can extend the life of the engine, but also have better lubricating and detergent properties.
