For vehicles operating under conditions of increased loads, special requirements are imposed on the quality of the lubricant.
The Shell Rimula family of oils is a special development of Shell, which is designed for heavy duty diesel trucks, agricultural machinery and other types of special equipment.
Oil description
The production is based on the patented Dynamic Protection Plus technology and an additive package. Oils developed using this technology are free of impurities and have improved viscosity characteristics that increase fluidity within the block and provide fast starts at low temperatures.
The active additives used in the oil adapt the product to changes in engine operating conditions, activating the appropriate components if necessary.
Characteristics of oils
Shell Rimula Oil contains active additives that provide the necessary level of protection for engine components in all operating modes.
The key role of additives is to:
- wear resistance. Additives contain molecules that form a thin, durable layer that separates the surfaces of rubbing parts and thereby prevents “hot spots” and wear.
- oxidation control. During combustion, diesel fuel forms acids, which can enter the cylinder block through the lubrication system. Acids significantly reduce the life of the engine, destroying parts from the inside. The composition of the risula shell oil includes detergent components that neutralize the action of acids.
- preventing the formation of deposits. When fuel burns, solid products are formed that cause piston rings to appear and damage to the cylinder wall. Dispersant additives prevent the accumulation of impurities in the working parts of the engine.
Designation of Shell Rimula oils
By the name of the oil, you can easily determine the scope of its application and characteristics. Product labeling is built according to the following scheme:
The letter R indicates the brand: Shell Rimula.
The level of protection is indicated by numbers:
- R2 - oils with an initial level of protection;
- R3 - excellent washing characteristics, protection against oxidative processes;
- R4 - improved protection against wear and deposits, protection of cars equipped with particulate filters;
- R5 - ensures engine cleanliness, control over the formation of corrosion;
- R6 - maximum protection for diesel mechanisms.
The following is the designation of the characteristics:
- L - used in vehicles with low emissions of toxic substances
- M - recommended for units with a long relubrication period;
- E - Reduced diesel fuel consumption compared to standard SAE 15W-40 lubricants
