Lubricants for internal combustion engines under the Suprotec brand are available in two viscosity options: 5W30 and 5W40. It is these SAE classes that were not chosen by chance. After all, the manufacturer is aimed exclusively at the Russian market. And for most regions of the Russian Federation, this viscosity is optimal.
Suprotec Atomium engine oil is produced in Germany, at the ROWE Mineralölwerk enterprise. And it's not just a commercial or advertising component. Production abroad is due to the company's desire to create a unique product that initially combines a modern base and a technological additive package modified with branded additives from Suprotec.
Let's briefly consider the general characteristics of Atomium motor oils.
- Base. A mixture of pali-alpha-olyphins (PAO) and esters was used as the base oil. According to the manufacturer, there is no hydrocracking component in their lubricants. That is, the base alone indicates that the oil is fully synthetic and claims the status of "Premium". Also, these basic components form the price. For some motorists, it will seem sky-high: a 4-liter canister costs an average of 4 to 5 thousand rubles.
- Additives. In addition to standard components, the Suprotec company enriches the package of additives with its own additives. In fact, these are adapted additives for Suprotec internal combustion engines, sold separately by the company. According to the manufacturer, Automium oil has unprecedented levels of engine protection against wear.
- API approval. The oil complies with the SN standard and can be used in any modern gasoline engine.
- ACEA approval. For 5W30 oil, the ACEA class is C3, for 5W40 it is C2 / C3. This means that Suprotec oils can work in passenger car and commercial vehicle diesel engines equipped with particulate filters and catalytic converters.
- The viscosity index for two Atomium oils is 183 units. This is a good indicator for PAO synthetics, but far from a record.
- Flash point. Oil vapors are guaranteed not to flare when heated in an open crucible until the lubricant reaches a temperature of 240°C. A high rate, almost unattainable for most hydrocracked oils.
- Pour point. In this regard, the base in question has a great influence on the engine oil. Pure synthetics, without the admixture of hydrocracking, perfectly resists hardening. 5W40 oil will only lose fluidity when cooled to -45°C, 5W30 will not harden to -54°C. These are extremely high values even for expensive imported synthetics.
- Alkaline number. In Atomium oils, this parameter is below average for modern lubricants. Both according to the manufacturer and according to the results of independent tests, the base number of these motor oils is about 6,5 mgKOH / g. Theoretically, this means that the oil has low detergent properties and a limited service life. This is true for hydrocracked oils. However, PAO-synthetics are in principle resistant to oxidation and form much less deposits during development. Therefore, such a low base number is quite sufficient in a particular case. If you follow the oil change schedule, the motor should not be contaminated with sludge.
In general, the characteristics of Suprotec Atomium oils correspond to its cost, given the base and the modified additive package.
Application area
Suprotec Atomium engine oil is universal, all-weather, designed for engines with any power supply system (including direct injection). There are no operational restrictions on the presence of a catalyst, turbine or intercooler. The low sulphated ash content, which is guaranteed by ACEA class C3, allows this oil to be used in commercial vehicles, including trucks equipped with diesel particulate filters.
Also, this oil is well suited for high-tech engines with mileage. Suprotec's balanced additives will extend the life of the motor and eliminate dosage errors that often occur when using protective and restorative compounds sold separately by the company.
It is not forbidden to use this oil in simple, unloaded motors. However, the price calls into question the feasibility of using these lubricants, for example, in the VAZ classic or outdated foreign cars.
Reviews of motorists
There are few reviews on this oil, as it is produced in rather limited quantities. In general, motorists talk about Atomium oils neutrally or positively. It is important to understand that in this price segment and with such initial characteristics, it will be difficult to notice shortcomings in the operation of the oil, especially in a short period of time.
PAO-synthetics with a technological additive package will work fine in any case, if it is not a fake. And such exclusive products are practically not faked today, since it makes no sense for counterfeit manufacturers to set up conveyor production for rare lubricants. Especially in the presence of complex protective solutions on the container.
The positive qualities of Suprotec Atomium oils motorists include:
- high lubricating properties, which is expressed in a quieter and smoother operation of the engine, subjectively reduced fuel consumption and good throttle response;
- stability (it is not necessary to change the oil in advance, even under difficult operating conditions);
- reduction of smoke and oil consumption for waste;
- no fakes on the market.
Of the shortcomings, car owners note the high price and low prevalence of oil on the market.
