Oil TAP-15v. Performance characteristics and analogues
Transmission oil TAP-15v is produced in accordance with the technical requirements of GOST 23652-79, and is intended for lubrication of heavily loaded mechanical gears in such vehicles as traction rolling stock of railways, trucks, self-propelled agricultural machinery, etc.
Features
The composition of TAP-15v oil is determined by the above standard and includes:
- extraction of residual oil after its selective phenolic purification;
- distillate oil extract;
- extreme pressure additives;
- additives of the CP series (depressant), which reduce the thickening point.
The main component of this oil is low-sulfur oil.
The physical and mechanical properties of the TAP-15v gear oil must correspond to the following values:
- Density at room temperature, kg/m3, no more: 930.
- Kinematic viscosity at 1000C, mm / s2, no more: 16.
- Flash point 0C, not less: 185.
- pour point, 0C, not less: -12.
- Acid number: 0,05.
- Ash content, %, no more: 0,005.
Oil TAP-15v is obtained by two-stage distillation of oil at normal atmospheric pressure into fuel oil. As a result of its secondary vacuum distillation, the necessary distillate fractions are formed, where the required additives are introduced. Therefore, the number of impurities formed is small and does not exceed 0,03%. GOST 23652-79 severely limits the composition of such impurities. In particular, they do not allow the presence of sand and other small mechanical particles that cause increased abrasive wear of lubricated gears.

According to the international classification, TAP-15v gear oil belongs to the API GL-5 SAE90 group. According to the current GOST 17479.2-85, these groups include oils intended for medium (in terms of intensity) operating conditions of equipment. These conditions are determined by the duration of continuous operation of gears, temperature fluctuations and relative sliding speeds. In particular, TAP-15v oil is not recommended for use in hypoid gears.
The SAE90 index indicates the characteristics of the viscosity of the oil (according to the domestic classification, this indicator corresponds to class 18).
The closest analogues of this brand of gear oil:

Along with other gear oils (for example, TSP-10), the lubricant in question can be used as an all-season lubricant, since it is distinguished by the relative stability of its viscosity over a wide temperature range. However, you should follow the manufacturer's recommendations and do not mix greases of similar application but different structural composition.
The price of TAP-15v gear oil depends on its manufacturer and product packaging. For wholesale deliveries (barrels with a capacity of 216 liters), the price is from 10500 rubles, when packed in canisters with a capacity of 20 liters - from 1400 rubles, and with a capacity of 10 liters - from 650 rubles.

In particular, when opening a container with products, you should use only spark-proof tools, work in a well-ventilated room, in case of spillage of oil on the floor, immediately eliminate the spill and cover the spill with sand.
Since the oil mist formed by the vapors of this oil belongs to the 3rd category of industrial hazard, all work with the product must be carried out in special clothing and footwear; it is also recommended to use individual products designed to protect the skin and respiratory organs.
