Mass police action. Will there be fines?

Mass police action. Will there be fines? Lighting makes a huge contribution to road safety. It depends on it whether the given vehicle can be seen and whether its driver can see the obstacles and dangerous situations that arise in front of the hood.

Unfortunately, many motorists are still dismissive of lighting. The traffic and transport department of the Police Headquarters in Wrocław will try to make them think. On November 18, the city will intensively check vehicles, paying special attention to the external lighting of vehicles.

The goal of the project is to convey to road users the importance of visibility for road safety, especially in the autumn-winter period. This applies both to the correct lighting of vehicles and the visibility of pedestrians moving after dark. In addition to the traffic police officers, the inspection station PZM also announced its participation in the project.

In the autumn-winter period, proper lighting of vehicles is of particular importance, since negative phenomena that adversely affect the vision process are intensified, especially in the presence of adverse weather conditions. If from dawn to dusk the headlights play only the role of indicating the position of the car on the road, then after dark the additional task of the headlights is also to illuminate the road and, most importantly, any unlit obstacles.

The correct operation of the headlights directly affects the safety of all road users, because the range of the field illuminated by the headlights, especially when using low beams, is determined, in addition to their general technical condition, by factors such as:

– correct headlight height adjustment,

- the correct distribution of the border of light and shadow,

is the intensity of the emitted light.

Therefore, in the autumn and winter months, accidents involving pedestrians, often with tragic consequences, occur much more often than in the rest of the period. Given the faster dusk and reduced visibility, some of these events could have been avoided if the driver of the vehicle had technically sound, correctly adjusted headlights and had noticed a pedestrian on the road earlier or had not caused other road users to be blinded. .
