The TL4 six-speed manual was developed jointly by Renault and Nissan engineers to replace a number of outdated manual transmission series. Production is established at the component factory in the Spanish city of Seville.
The T series also includes a gearbox: TL8.
Renault TL4 transmission design
This box consists of two housings (clutch housing separately), cast aluminum. The design is two-shaft, all gears are synchronized and even reverse. An interesting feature is considered to be a very short first gear, so many drivers have already developed the habit of starting off immediately from second.
The clutch drive is hydraulic, and it is controlled by two cables. The mechanics is used for engines with a torque of less than 260 Nm, and its compact dimensions allow it to be installed on B-class cars.

Features of operation and resource of the gearbox TL4
Owners prefer to change gear oil every 60 km, although the manufacturer himself claims that it is filled for the entire life of the unit. To replace, you will need 000 liters of TRANSELF NFJ 1,9W-75 or equivalent.
The resource of the box is estimated at 200 thousand km, which is the average level for modern units that are no longer as reliable as the old series.
