Change the lamps to Rav 4

We will describe what lighting equipment is suitable for the Toyota RAV4, how the fourth generation Rav 4 bulbs change.

Safety measures

To begin with, we list the basic safety rules when replacing lamps in Rav 4:

• All lights must be turned off.
• Light bulbs must cool down (especially gas-discharge ones), otherwise you can get burned.
• When handling lamps in Rav 4, they are held not by the glass flask, but by the base, therefore, when the glass is broken, they are not damaged and do not leave greasy stains.
• Upon completion of work, it is necessary to carefully check the strength of the fasteners, the tightness of the standard protection.

Bulbs used in Rav 4 4 generations

HIR2 - in bihalogen dipped, high beam headlights (in one lens)

HB3: in halogen headlights for low beam and high beam, in bi-xenon headlights for high beam only.

D4S - in bi-xenon for the near.

H16 - for fog lights Rav 4.

LED: for marker lights, brake lights, daytime running lights, fog lights.

W5W - for dimensions, brake lights, for interior lighting, rooms, trunk on Rav 4.

W16W - reverse.

W21W - for brake lights, rear turn signals (until 2015/10), fog lights Rav 4.

WY21W - for front, rear turn signals (from 2015/10.

Replacing bulbs of the front headlamp Rav 4

To replace the lamps on the right, that is, on the passenger side, remove the washer reservoir. On the driver's side (left), replacement is possible without tools.

The dipped beam is mounted on the outer edge of the headlamp. The latch is pressed and the electrical connector is disconnected. The protective cover is turned counterclockwise and removed. After that, the blue electrical connector is disconnected, the cartridge is unscrewed a quarter of a turn and the light source is removed.

The new one is installed in the reverse order, however, the halogen should not touch the glass with your fingers, otherwise it will quickly burn out due to traces of grease and sweat left by the fingers. Contaminated glass must be degreased with alcohol.

The HB3 high beam bulb is located in the middle of the headlight, changes in the same way as the previous one. RAV 4 has 4 generations of interchangeable dipped and main beam devices.

The turn signals are located at the bottom of the interior trim. The gray indicator socket WY21W/5W is turned ¼ to the left and pulled out together with the bulb. It is removed from the cartridge and replaced with a new one. The following is the reverse assembly order.

Marker lights are located on the outer edge, have orange cartridges. The W5W size bulb changes in the same way as the turn signals.

Changing the light sources in the fog lamps

For Rav 4 2014 fog lights 19W Type C (Halogen H16) are suitable.

In order to have enough space when changing the light bulb, you need to unscrew the steering wheel in the opposite direction. That is, if you turn on the right foglight, then the steering wheel turns to the left and vice versa.

1. The wing protection is removed after the latch is removed.
2. After pressing the latch, the connector is removed.
3. The base unscrews counterclockwise.
4. When installing a new light source, its three tabs must be connected to the mounting holes and rotated clockwise.
5. After installing the connector in place, shake the lamp by the base and check the strength of the clamp. Then turn it on and make sure the headlamp is working and no light is leaking through the bracket.
6. The fender liner is placed, fastened and rotated with a latch.

Change the bulbs in the rear headlamp

To replace brake lights and turn signals on the RAV 4 2015 stern, 21 W lamps are suitable, and for side lights - 5 W, in both cases this is type E (transparent without a base).

After opening the tailgate, the bolts are unscrewed and the lighting unit is removed. The corresponding lighting device is unscrewed counterclockwise. The old lamp is removed, a new one is installed in its place and fastened in the reverse order.

Replacing bulbs in the rear dimensions, reversing lights and room lighting

After opening the tailgate, use a cloth-wrapped screwdriver to pry off the tailgate cover. The desired light sources are unscrewed counterclockwise, pulled out and replaced with new ones. For reversing lights Rav 4 4th generation, type E 16W bulbs (transparent without base) are suitable, and the dimensions and license plate lighting are 5W, of the same type.

Changing light sources in the rear fog lights

The fog lights at the rear of the Rav 4 are 21W E-type bulbs (no base). Their replacement is carried out according to the algorithm described above. Only at the end of work should the tightness of the rubber boot be checked.
