Changing the tale - Ford Fiesta

I can't help but touch on the topic of Aston Martin. The British brand borrowed a miniature IQ from Toyota, pasted its grille and emblem on it, and started selling it as Cygnet for space money. By the way, the founder of Aston Lionel Martin began to roll over in his grave. Okay, but what does Ford have to do with it?

Ford once owned Aston Martin, but sports cars have begun to drag it down with them. As a result, management decided to get rid of the beloved James Bond brand. What happened to her? We can say that she lives, but her shares were eaten up by the stock exchange and dispersed around the world like young Poles. However, for Ford, the love for Aston remained, and this is not surprising - having such a brand in the concern is something like marrying Hugh Grant. He is extremely obliged, but always to Hugh Grant. In order of deduction - the sale is a divorce. Ford, however, found a way to console itself and customers who can't afford the Aston by doing a facelift for the Fiesta.

HOW NOT A FORD

The updated car from the front does not look like a Ford at all - it's still an Aston! It's hard not to think like that, which means the world has gone crazy. But what has really changed? As for the front end, that's it. Lamps can have LEDs, bumper, hood and grille are different. From the perceptive side, new designs of alloy wheels and mirrors will catch the eye, and at the rear - lights and a spoiler. The conclusion is that there are not many changes in the overall design, but the existing ones are of great importance. Anyway, was the pre-elevator version ugly? No. She just dressed up a little. The body will still be a hatchback, although a sedan will also be offered - but not in Europe.

Ford also decided to introduce new body colors. In the old version, magenta was a particularly interesting hue, although I remember once in one of the Ford showrooms claiming it was pink. During the presentation, the Fiesta designer spoke with terrifying enthusiasm about four new colors - red, blue, copper and mustard. In the summer, the word exciting fell out more often than flies. I got the impression that she was exaggerating, but in practice it turned out that the shades are really pleasant. The interior also offers a new color scheme. Have there been design changes? Yes, but it's better to say that it's just cosmetic. A color display appeared on the console, some switches changed their position, others also textures, materials and a steering wheel. I must admit that the upper part of the dashboard is made of an unusual and pleasant material. With the bottom and the door is worse - you can break eggs into an omelet about them. In addition, the USB socket is placed in a prominent place - it is better not to leave a USB flash drive in it overnight, because new windows are expensive. The rest of the elements really remained unchanged. The design is fresh and cute, and the flagship cockpit still has millions of tiny buttons to control its many functions. The car also included some useful technology.

SYNC is a voice controlled system. After all, just a few years ago, only executive cars offered such a solution. However, this does not mean that you can talk to Fiesta and let her even open the windows. SYNC works with electronic devices connected via USB or Bluetooth. As a result, he can only search for music libraries stored on the phone or call someone. Of course, I was quick to tell the Ford rep that compared to the SIRI voice system in iPhones, they are still in the stone age, but he defended himself by saying that SIRI uses an Internet connection, while SYNC does not. In any case, the system is a good idea, although Fiat has been offering a similar solution for a long time.

The Fiesta also has new security systems. The emergency service itself can call local emergency services to call for help. On the phone, he gives the GPS location of the event and automatically communicates in the language of the country, but not in Polish, of course - then life would be too good. On the other hand, Active City Stop is able to stop the car at low speeds to avoid an accident. All this can be found in other brands, which is why the best novelty is called MyKey. This is nothing more than a programmable key. On it you can set the speed limit, fuel level, security systems, and even the maximum volume level of the sound. And finally, let your child, who has recently been stripped of his driver's license, sleep without tranquilizers when the child wants to go somewhere. The system can also force you to fasten your seat belts by muting the sound. So either bands or music. Fiesta does not have a V under the hood, which you can listen to instead of your favorite mp-three, so the choice will be simple - everyone will break. By the way - the engine is also an interesting topic.

REDUCTION RULES

Ford is proud of its 3-cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engine. So much so that more and more models put it under the hood - soon even the Mondeo! Of course, the Fiesta also has it. While Ford is proud of the miniature engine, the chief designer is on the verge of excitement and painful euphoria - but I understand him. He could talk for years about the project of his work, but in fact he did a great job. The device is so small that it fits in a travel bag. It has direct fuel injection, a turbocharger and reaches 125 hp. in Fiesta. I sincerely wish Ford that his new offspring would have no problems with durability ... After all, power is huge in relation to power, this is a game with the laws of nature. And how does this car drive?

The company organized a presentation of the refreshed Fiesta in Rome and I watched in horror what was happening there on the roads. I was even afraid to walk around them. However, the bus driver gave everyone good advice - do not look around and always look ahead. This supposedly helps keep the airbags in place. In a moment I knew that he was right - the scooters appeared out of nowhere and without any tension drove into the wheels. Few Italians have heard of such an invention as turn signals. Luckily, the Fiesta's good suspension and firm steering helped me to react quickly as I accelerated. The motor itself develops 170 Nm of torque from 1 rpm, but you don’t feel much enthusiasm for work. In fact, it doesn't even exist. Only from 500-2 rpm the unit comes to life. Unfortunately, then it starts to work loudly, and its sound resembles a pack of growling dogs. Fuel consumption also increases, although 500l / 3km with a really dynamic ride is still an excellent result. Also, the gear ratios are long and you don't have to change gears often. This microscopic bike actually has two faces. At low revs, it means that nothing can be expected from the car, because it is just sluggish. However, in the second half of the tachometer, Satan introduces him and he has no problems overtaking a column of cars. In front of me the road began to rise steeply uphill. Did the engine hold up? Certainly! The gas pedal really had to be pressed hard and the nasty buzzing of the unit disappeared, but the boost and 000 hp. meant that, despite the very difficult route, the car did not seem sluggish at all. It was even more interesting in the opposite direction - serpentine sharply down. The Fiesta is front-wheel drive, and the laws of physics cannot be fooled, which is why it suffers from understeer. However, the slip limit is far shifted and it is very easy to feel. The suspension is great for slalom, and driving this machine is a real pleasure - bravo! No one should complain about driving pleasure. I stopped for a moment to take a few photos, then suddenly the Start & Stop system automatically shut down the red-hot engine. Hmm... what does the turbocharger say? If she could talk, she would probably scream, "Get me out of here!" My fears were dispelled by the engine designer - fortunately, the supercharger has its own individual cooling system, so that abrupt shutdown of the engine is not dangerous. At least in theory...

With the facelift, Ford simply adapted the Fiesta to the new B-segment standards. This was inevitable as the competition moved forward. The refreshed design is worth getting used to, because soon all Fords will look like this. Everything is fine? Well, now you can have a Ford Fiesta instead of an Aston Martin Cygnet - both will fit perfectly in the city and look the same from the front. What about the money saved? They say that country houses are now in vogue.
