Mercasol. European standard anticorrosives

Composition and application features

Auson has announced new solvent-based anti-corrosion compounds that have previously been used to treat the underbody of a car. The anticorrosive agents produced by this company are represented by the following means:

  • MERCASOL 831 ML - a light brown product made using oil-wax high-molecular compounds, and designed to treat the internal cavities of the car body.
  • MERCASOL 845 ML - a bitumen-based preparation with the addition of aluminum, which gives the product a bronze tint. It is advisable to use for anti-corrosion treatment of bottoms.
  • MERCASOL 2 и MERCASOL 3 - protective varnish sprays.
  • MERCASOL 4 - protective coating for wheel arches.
  • MERCASOL Sound Protect - a composition of increased density, which, simultaneously with the anti-corrosion protection of the car, also reduces the noise level.
  • MERCASOL 5 - is a protective anti-corrosion coating, which includes plastic. This makes it possible to successfully resist the attack of gravel particles present on poor quality roads.

The company also presents an anticorrosive agent with accelerated drying - Mercasol 845 D. Conventional rust protection products are characterized by a drying time of 4 ... 5 hours, while Mercasol 845 D dries at normal temperature in 1 ... 1,5 hours. Anticorrosive has a black color, and after application to the surface it forms a matte and sticky film of a matte shade there.

All products of the Mercasol family stand out for their high adhesiveness, which is maintained even at a relative humidity of 90%. At the same time, the coating retains stability from mechanical influences on the bottom of the car during its movement.

The original anticorrosives of the Mercasol family are produced at the company's plant located in the Swedish city of Kungsbakka. It is by the location of the manufacturer (just in case, we will give the barcodes of Sweden - from 730 to 739) that it is best to distinguish original drugs from possible fakes.

Antikor Mercasol - reviews

The drugs listed above are especially common in the northwestern regions of Russia (perhaps, the influence of interregional economic relations affects). However, such popularity is also due to the similarity of climatic conditions: it is in the Baltic regions of the country (for example, the Kaliningrad or Leningrad region) that high humidity is constantly present.

Favorable reviews about Mercasol products are also found from users living in the Far North. They note the temperature stability of the composition, which is maintained at negative temperatures of -30ºC and below.

The reviews note the environmental friendliness of the drugs, when working with which there are no cases of skin or upper respiratory tract irritation.

Anticorrosive Mercasol is suitable for a wide range of vehicles, including heavy vehicles.

Most reviews recommend the following processing sequence:

  1. Cleaning and drying the car.
  2. Applying the substance to the hood and doors.
  3. Bottom processing.
  4. Machining suspension, axles, differentials and steering components.
  5. Wheel arch treatment.

At the same time, the reviews note the relatively high cost of the drugs in question (in addition to Mercasol, Noxudol, which has a similar composition, is also produced in Scandinavia).

Mercasol or Dinitrol. What's better?

The merits of Mercasol have already been said. Often a German-made Dinitrol anticorrosive agent competes with these drugs. Many workshops use both products due to their ability to provide excellent rust protection to the vehicle. Both Dinitrol and Mercasol have their own differences, so recommendations usually come down to the choice of application method, ease of use and the appearance of the surface after treatment.

Dinitrol has a high degree of fluidity and therefore gets into all hard-to-fill areas of the car to provide the best protection against rust. The preparation contains a rust inhibitor to neutralize any oxide film on the surface with which it comes into contact.

Mercasol contains bitumen, which softens at high temperatures, therefore, at a long-term elevated ambient temperature, the agent may spontaneously drain from the surface. Dinitrol, for its part, is a waxy oil blend. Therefore, when the solvent evaporates, only wax remains on the surface. When heated, wax only reduces its density (but not viscosity). Therefore, the surface treated with this composition provides better protection against abrasive particles attacking the bottom of the car.

The content of rust inhibitors in both products is the same, which predetermines an equal degree of stopping corrosion processes in both Mercasol and Dinitrol. The conclusions are based on test results that were conducted by Practical Classics magazine.
