Mercedes-Benz A 190 Vanguard

It makes sense to me to discuss how a car can satisfy the buyer, the owner, the driver. First of all, it should be noted that the A is the smallest Mercedes to date (not to mention Smart) and is usually the second car in the family. We use it for shorter trips, in urban areas where parking is difficult.

For a good car with a length of three and a half meters, this problem is much less compared to its length. Correctly selected power steering makes it easy to turn in place and sharply increase movement when driving fast. So the car is always pleasant to drive. The very upright (and adjustable) steering wheel will appeal to those who prefer it closer to their knees than the windshield.

It sits as high as in vans or minivans, and because of the high raised floor and sill, the entrance is also high. You don't even notice it until you open the door. The high sill, high bottom and high seats do not require a lot of effort to enter, but the visibility around is much better. And not only because of this, but also because of the rather large glass surfaces with small blind spots.

Fairy Tale And with Equipment Avantgarde has, as befits an original car, a good set of useful equipment. I will not list, with ASR and ESP too much, but I can say that nothing important has been missed. There used to be something superfluous. For example, the large center armrest, which is also a closed box. There in the middle, it can be very useful or make it difficult to access the handbrake. Maybe another console is missing, but then there is nothing to complain about.

With the new four-cylinder engine, the A is surprisingly agile as well. There are already quite a few races. He also has that voice. At speeds up to 60 km / h, the ASR (Traction Control System) does its job, but under hard acceleration it still wants to wrest the steering wheel out of its hands.

Even at low engine speeds, A is quite alive and reacts even faster to speeds above 3500 rpm. The electronics of the motor allows for a short time to rotate in the red field at a speed of up to 7000 rpm (for example, when overtaking!), But usually this is not necessary.

The engine is good (and pleasant) to hear, so a smart driver already knows by voice when to shift. The precise shift lever and precise fast transmission are well adapted to the engine, and the wood-leather-covered lever is still beautiful and pleasant to the touch. The clutch pedal is still too sensitive and needs to be released by feel. Otherwise, the engine likes to turn off, especially at the intersection, when it needs to be quickly started. But I can say - if it's any consolation - that he is already much less sensitive than he was with the first fives.

So much has been said about the handling of A that I can only emphasize once again that there is nothing wrong with its stability. With a little wit, this car rides like everyone else, or even better. The chassis is tough on average, braking is no problem and the handling for such a small car is very good even at high speeds.

When you quickly get used to the biggest Mercedes, even the smallest one can fall in love with you. It has no such drawbacks to completely discourage anyone from buying. Better the opposite. He has so many accessories and equipment, and of course, that symbol on his nose that attracts a lot of people.

evaluation

  • Since the smallest Mercedes has a lively and powerful motorcycle, for those who need a dose of adrenaline from time to time, there is not much of it either. Of course, this is not a racing car, but it is a fairly lively car, with a pleasant voice, rich equipment and an important symbol on the nose. The latter is often made heavier.
