Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 315 Cdi Box

With this new Sprinter, we could easily imagine how it would feel to be a plumber or equivalent in a mobile workshop. The largest representative of the Mercedes delivery program is huge, even so spacious that it is an average garage of tools and equipment.

You do not believe? Take a look at the photo of the cargo area, where there are many drawers, cabinets, shelves and a workbench. It even holds the base securely if it is necessary to cut the iron pipe precisely. Such a richly equipped mobile workshop was created by the specialized company Sorti, doo, representing the Sortimo brand. It is known to professionals for its lightweight, durable and useful designs or workshop solutions.

The standard body option and raised roof is probably the most ideal combination for most craftsmen, as cargo space has a usable 10 cubic meters, which is two cubic meters more than the basic version with a raised roof.

For the Sprinter version with a length of 5 meters, the plant offers versions with payloads from 91 to 900 kg. So in this area the choice is varied. We must emphasize that it is precisely because of its enormous size that you will not rush with it into very narrow city streets.

But that's not all; In addition to carrying capacity, it boasts one of the safest delivery vans available. ESP comes standard, which is especially welcome when such a giant is fully loaded. Said safety electronics are very helpful to the driver, as they will deliver the load faster and above all more likely, even in poor driving conditions, such as snow, ice or rain.

In keeping with modern safety equipment, the interior of the passenger cabin, which is still a cargo van, almost resembles a truck, but most importantly, the driver has everything he needs close at hand. Thus, one can commend the installation of the gear lever, the steering wheel, which provides a good feeling of the connection of the front wheels to the asphalt, and the transparent sensors.

We only lacked additional sound insulation, since the noise from under the hood is not sufficiently filtered and goes into the cabin. A four-cylinder turbo diesel could make the area a little quieter. It is true that with 150 horses it deserves to be commended as, despite its bulky size and the weight of this Sprinter, it is lively enough to ride without tiring.

Well, if the Sprinter is fully loaded with cargo, the story is a little different, as it strains a lot more and requires higher engine revs. Its consumption also increases, which, with a moderately heavy leg, does not exceed ten liters, and under load it reaches 12 liters.

Otherwise, the extended service interval, which is now set every 40.000 kilometers, speaks in favor of savings. This and the consumption of solid fuel should be enough for a friendly balance at the end of the year.

Aside from rust problems in older Sprinters, Mercedes has also provided adequate rust protection and a 12-year warranty. Rusty sheet metal, which in the past was the biggest wound for these vans, is considered history. This is definitely good news as we love the new Sprinter. Keep it fresh for as long as possible.

evaluation

  • Without a doubt, this is a professional van. It impresses with its roominess and payload, to some extent (if you're not overly demanding) also with the combination of an engine and a six-speed gearbox. It is known to be large, but this is not as disturbing as the slightly overestimated engine volume associated with poor sound insulation.
