Mercedes-Benz Citan. What does the new generation offer?

Mercedes-Benz Citan. What does the new generation offer? The volume of the cargo compartment of the Citan van is up to 2,9 m3. In the middle are two euro pallets crosswise, one after the other.

The new Citan combines compact exterior dimensions (length: 4498-2716 mm) with generous interior space. Thanks to its many different versions and practical equipment details, it offers many different possibilities of use and convenient loading. The model will be launched on the market as a van and tourer. Other long wheelbase variants will follow, as well as a Mixto version. But even in the short wheelbase variant (3,05 mm), the New Sitan offers significantly more space than its predecessor – for example, in a van, the cargo compartment is XNUMX meters long (for the version with a movable partition). .

Mercedes-Benz Citan. What does the new generation offer?Sliding doors are a practical advantage, especially in narrow parking lots. The new Citan is available with two pairs of sliding doors. They provide a wide opening - measuring 615 millimeters - on both sides of the car. The height of the loading hatch is 1059 millimeters (both figures refer to ground clearance). The luggage compartment is also easily accessible from the rear: the van's cargo sill is 59 cm high. The two rear doors can be locked at a 90-degree angle and even tilted up to 180 degrees towards the vehicle. The door is asymmetric - the left leaf is wider, so it should be opened first. Optionally, the van can also be ordered with rear doors with heated windows and wipers. A tailgate is available upon request, which also includes these two functions.

The editors recommend: Driver's license. Code 96 for category B trailer towing

The Tourer comes standard with a tailgate with a window. As an alternative, it is also available with a tailgate. The rear seat can be folded in a ratio of 1/3 to 2/3. Numerous storage compartments make everyday use of the new Citan easier.

Mercedes-Benz Citan. What does the new generation offer? In addition to the fixed partition between the cab and the cargo area (with and without glass), the new Citan Panel Van is also available in a folding version. This option has already proven itself on the previous model and has since been optimized. If long items need to be transported, the passenger side grille can be rotated 90 degrees, then folded down towards the driver's seat and locked into place. The passenger seat, in turn, can be folded down to create a flat surface. The protective grille is made of steel and is designed to protect the driver and pilot from uncontrolled cargo movement.

New Mercedes Sitan. What engines to choose?

Mercedes-Benz Citan. What does the new generation offer? At market launch, the new Citan's engine range will consist of three diesel and two petrol models. For even better acceleration when overtaking, for example, the 85 kW diesel version of the van is equipped with a power boost/torque boost function. It allows you to briefly recall up to 89 kW of power and 295 Nm of torque.

Power units comply with Euro 6d environmental standards. All engines are linked to the ECO Start/Stop function. In addition to a six-speed manual transmission, the most powerful diesel and petrol models will also be available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

There will be an electric version

eCitan will enter the market in the second half of 2022. This all-electric variant of the Citan will join Mercedes-Benz Vans' electric van lineup alongside the eVito and eSprinter. The expected range will be around 285 kilometers (according to WLTP), which will meet the needs of commercial users who often use the car for logistics and delivery in the city center. Rapid charging stations are expected to take 10 minutes to charge a battery from 80 percent to 40 percent. Importantly, the customer does not have to make any concessions in terms of the size of the cargo compartment, carrying capacity and availability of equipment compared to a car with a conventional engine. For eCitan, even a towbar will be available.

New Mercedes Sitan. Integrated protective equipment and devices

Supported by radar and ultrasonic sensors and cameras, driving and parking assistance systems monitor traffic and the environment and can warn or intervene as needed. Like the new generations of the C-Class and S-Class, Active Lane Keeping Assist works by interfering with the steering, making it particularly comfortable.

In addition to the legally required ABS and ESP systems, the new Citan models come standard with Hill Start Assist, Crosswind Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST and Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call. The assistance systems of the Citan Tourer are even more complex. Standard features on this model include Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Assist Blind Spot Assist and Assist Limit Assist with Road Sign Detection to further assist the driver.

Many other driving assistance systems are available on request, including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, which can automatically take control when driving in traffic, and Active Steering Assist, which helps the driver keep the Citan in the center of the lane.

Citan is also a pioneer in safety systems: for example, the Citan Tourer is equipped as standard with a central airbag that can inflate between the driver's and passenger's seat in the event of a severe side impact. In total, as many as seven airbags can protect passengers. The van is equipped with six airbags as standard.

Like its older brother, the Sprinter, and Mercedes-Benz passenger car models, the new Citan can be optionally equipped with the intuitive and self-learning MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system. With powerful chips, self-learning software, high-resolution screens and stunning graphics, this system has revolutionized the way you drive.

Different MBUX versions are available on request for the new Citan. Its strengths include an intuitive operating concept via the seven-inch touchscreen, the Touch Control buttons on the steering wheel or the "Hey Mercedes" voice assistant. Other benefits include smartphone integration with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free calling and digital radio (DAB and DAB+).

In addition, the Citan is factory prepared for many Mercedes me connect digital services. As a result, clients are always connected to the vehicle, no matter where they are. They always have access to important information both on board and outside the vehicle, and they can also use a number of other useful functions.

For example, "Hey Mercedes" can understand colloquial expressions: users no longer need to learn certain commands. Other features of Mercedes me connect include remote services such as car status lookup. As a result, customers can conveniently check the most important information about their vehicles at any time, such as from home or office. Just as practical, with navigation with real-time traffic information and Car-to-X connectivity, customers have access to the latest real-time data while on the road. This means you can effectively avoid traffic jams and save valuable time.

Destinations can be entered as three-word addresses thanks to the what3word (w3w) system. what3words is the easiest way to get your location. Under this system, the world was divided into 3m x 3m squares, and each of them was assigned a unique three-word address - this can be very useful when looking for a destination, especially in commercial activities.
