Metz Mecatech unveils its e-bike center motor

German equipment manufacturer Metz Mecatech, aiming to gain a foothold in the increasingly successful electric bike market, has just unveiled its first electric motor.

Better known in the automotive world, where it has worked for over 80 years, the first Metz Mecatech central engine was presented at Eurobike.

The Metz electric motor, available in two versions, develops a rated power of up to 250 W and a peak power of 750 W with a torque of 85 Nm. Offered with four assistance modes and torque and rotation sensors, it is linked to a digital display to monitor the battery charge level. and the type of help used. This main screen, located in the center of the steering wheel, is complemented by a remote control that allows you to select the assistance mode. On the battery side, there are two types of packages available: 522 or 612 Wh.

Metz Mecatech plans to assemble its electric motor at its plant in Nuremberg, Germany. At the moment, the price and availability of this new engine is not yet known. It remains to be seen whether the German supplier will succeed in seducing bike manufacturers in the face of heavyweights like Bosch, Shimano, Brose or Bafang ...
