Chrysler minivans: an overview of popular models - photos, prices and equipment

The American automobile manufacturer Chrysler has been on the market since 1925. Today, it is 55% owned by Italian Fiat and has an annual turnover of approximately $XNUMX billion.

Chrysler products are not very familiar to Russian motorists, however, it is worth noting that Chrysler is a group of companies that includes the following divisions:

• Dodge;
• Ram;
• Jeep and others.

They have an independent commercial policy, however, many car models can be seen under the emblem of Chrysler, and Ram or Dodge. Jeep is exclusively engaged in the production of SUVs and crossovers.

Chrysler Pacifica

An absolutely new model, which was presented to the general public at the beginning of 2016 in Detroit. According to its characteristics, the car is an American answer to the popular Japanese model Toyota Sienna. The predecessor of the Chrysler Pacifica is another minivan from the company called the Chrysler Town & Country.

Despite its short history of existence, the car has already managed to please the American public for a number of reasons:

• the car passed a series of IIHS crash tests with honors, receiving the highest Top Safety Pick + rating;
• in 10 months, Pacifica broke all sales records, catching up with its competitor Toyota Sienna - more than 35 units were sold, thus the minivan took 000% of the American market for large family cars;
• the minivan managed to make it to the finals of the 2016 SUV of the Year competition.

On the very official website of the Chrysler company, the minivan, without false modesty, is called the best choice of 2017 based on the number of views of sales ads. It is also worth saying that by American standards, this car cannot be called too expensive: in the basic configuration, it costs from 28 thousand dollars, which at today's exchange rate corresponds to an amount of about 1,5-1,6 million rubles. True, at the moment the model is not officially sold in Russia.

There is also a hybrid model, which will cost from 41 thousand USD, that is, approximately 2,25 million rubles.

Specifications:

• more modern sports-type exterior for active people;
• accommodates 7 people, the rear row of seats can be removed, the total volume of the cabin is 5663 liters;
• powerful 3,6 liter 6-cylinder engine with 287 hp;
• the hybrid version is equipped with a 248 hp gasoline engine. and an electric motor, consumes a hybrid engine of 3,5 liters per 100 km, which is not bad at all for a two-ton minivan;
• All cars are equipped with a 9-band automatic transmission.

The car has front wheel drive. There is information that all-wheel drive Pacifica will appear soon. The length of the minivan is as much as 5171 mm, and the height is 1382. We hope to see this car on sale soon in order to be able to evaluate its quality and technical characteristics by our own example.

Chrysler Grand Voyager

The Grand Voyager is an extended version of the Chrysler Voyager. Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager are complete copies of this model. The minivan has been produced since 1988 and has generally gained good reviews and reputation. Although in terms of security, it does not reach the model described above. Crash tests Euro NCAP Voyager passed an average of 4 stars out of five.

Updated 2016 models can be purchased at Chrysler dealerships at a price of 2,9-3 million rubles. The car is sold in several trim levels: for 7 or 8 seats. Thanks to the Stow 'N Go function, the interior can be easily upgraded by removing or adding seats.

• 283-horsepower 3.6-liter gasoline engine;
• 6-speed automatic transmission with Autostick function (possibility of switching to manual control);
• up to one hundred kilometers per hour accelerates in 9,5 seconds, the maximum speed is 209 km / h;
• in the city it consumes up to 16 liters of gasoline, and on the highway no more than eight liters.

The total length of the body reaches 5175 millimeters, equipped with 17-inch discs, front and rear disc brakes. Able to take on board up to 800 kg of payload. The total weight of the completed minivan is 2,7 tons.

All safety and driving assistance systems are included: airbags, active head restraints, cruise control, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, ESP. There are also Brake / Park Interlock anti-theft systems, thanks to which the car cannot be started while parked. In different trim levels, multimedia and entertainment devices are offered, up to built-in monitors on the rear walls of the seats.

Chrysler Town & Country

The Chrysler Town and Country is the forerunner of the Chrysler Pacific. The release was carried out from 1982 to 2014. Later, this model was discontinued, and a decision was made to launch a Premium crossover instead. However, these plans were not destined to come true.

This minivan is ideal for trips with the whole family, as it is designed for 7 or 8 seats: 2+3+2 or 2+3+3. There are options for both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The car underwent the last update in 2010, as a result of which the following changes appeared in the appearance:

• bumpers have become more massive;
• the radiator grille has increased, it has been equipped with horizontal chrome strips;
• designers slightly changed the front and rear lights, made them larger and more streamlined;
• even in the basic configuration, the interior received leather trim;
• the instrument panel and dials are made in a retro style.

A big innovation was the Swivel 'n Go cabin transformation system, thanks to which it became possible to turn the second row seats 180 degrees. In terms of technical characteristics, the Chrysler Town & Country is fully consistent with the previous model we described. Under the hood is a 3.6 liter engine with 283 horsepower. In urban mode, 15-16 liters of gasoline are required, outside the city - 8-10, depending on driving conditions.

It is worth noting that the Chrysler Town & Country model is one of the most successful, as over 25 years of its production, more than 12 million copies have been sold worldwide. Even a used car produced in 2010-2014 in the USA costs between 12-28 thousand dollars. In Russia, prices on automotive sites range from 600 thousand to 1,5 million rubles. But for a car in good condition, even that kind of money is not a pity to pay, since it is ideally suited for family trips over long distances.
