Honda minivans: left and right hand drive

Honda is one of the leaders in the production of cars - in Japan, it ranks second after Toyota. In addition, Honda also produces motorcycles and engines that are installed on many Chinese-made car models. Among Honda products, you can even find android robots - and these are the most promising developments to date in terms of investment.

Let's talk about minivans.

Honda Odyssey

Honda Odyssey - we have already talked about this model on Vodi.su in an article about all-wheel drive minivans. This 7-seater minivan was originally produced for the US and Canadian markets. It was not officially presented in Russia. The release was started in 1994 and continues to this day, Odyssey has been updated 20 times over these 5 years - in 2013, a new 5th generation rolled off the assembly lines in Sayama (Japan).

One fact is interesting - of all the options of the updated minivan, great attention is paid to the Honda-VAC option - this is nothing more than the world's first built-in vacuum cleaner that can work for an arbitrarily long time when the engine is on or 8 minutes when it is turned off.

From the technical characteristics, a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder i-VTEC engine can be distinguished, which, at 250 Nm of peak torque, is capable of delivering 248 horsepower. Automatic or continuously variable gearboxes are available as a transmission. The drive can be both full and front.

The design also looks not bad at all, the rear doors look good, which do not open in the direction of the car, but backwards. Odyssey is very popular in America, in 2012 it was recognized as the best car of the year, and won other prizes, such as the Auto Pacific Ideal Award - the best car on the Pacific coast.

To date, it is available in several trim levels:

• LX - from 28 thousand dollars;
• EX - from 32 thousand;
• EX-L (long wheelbase version) - from 36 thousand;
• Touring (cross-country version) - from 42 thousand dollars;
• Touring Elite — 44,600 $.

If you want to buy a new Odyssey, we can recommend ordering from the USA. True, given that delivery will cost at least 1,5-2 thousand dollars, plus customs clearance of 45-50 percent of the cost, then you will have to prepare approximately 45 thousand dollars for the basic version. Therefore, it is much more profitable to buy a car with mileage between the ages of 3 and 5 years - customs clearance will be much cheaper.

Honda FR-V

The Honda FR-V is a unique 6-seat compact MPV. He was remembered for the presence of two rows of seats, and both in front and behind there were 3 seats. Two adults and a child in a child seat could fit in front, 3 adult passengers felt quite free in the back.

The production of this model lasted from 2004 to 2009.

It came with 3 types of engines:

• 1.7-liter VTEC with 125 hp;
• 1.8 and 2.0 liter iVTEC with 138 and 150 hp;
• 2.2-liter iCDTI diesel capable of 140 hp at 4 thousand rpm and 340 Nm.

Due to the fact that there were three seats in front (if desired, all seats - both front and rear - easily folded into the floor), the automatic transmission selector lever was placed on the front panel - not on the steering column, but on the console, where usually there is a deflector for supplying air to the passenger compartment from the air conditioning system.

The level of security was at a fairly high level, there were all passive and active security systems. Cruise control, climate control, driver assistance systems were also available. The FR-V looks good and outwardly - a one-volume body, the hood line smoothly flows into the A-pillars and into the roof.

The size of the interior space is such that, despite the seeming miniature, 3 mountain bikes can be easily placed in the luggage compartment with the rear seats folded down, for three passengers who will ride in the front row.

Prices are quite high. So, for a compact van in good condition, manufactured in 2009, they ask for 10-12 thousand USD, that is, about 600-700 thousand rubles.

Honda Elysion

The Honda Elysion is an 8-seater minivan that has been produced in Japan since 2005. He was conceived as a competitor for such minivans as: Toyota Alphard and Nissan Elgrand. The car is popular both in Japan itself and in other countries with left-hand traffic. You can see a lot of ads from Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Nakhodka, where a lot of people drive right-hand drive.

This minivan comes with front-wheel drive as standard, there is also a Honda Elysion Prestige version that uses all-wheel drive.

Specifications are as follows:

• 2.4 or 3-liter engines with 160, 200 and 250 hp;
• Prestige equipment is equipped with a 3.5-liter unit with 300 hp.
• 5-speed automatic transmission;
• there are a lot of auxiliary systems available - rear-view cameras, climate and cruise control, ABS, EBD, ESP and so on.

The launch in 2012 was also launched at the Chinese company Honda-Dongfeng, so it is, in principle, possible to find a left-hand drive version. Prices for used cars in Russia depend on the technical condition and year of production. On average, amounts from 600 thousand to 1,5 million rubles appear. A new car will cost much more, but unfortunately it is not officially represented in Russia.

Honda stream

7-seat compact minivan, which has been produced since 2000. Available with both full and front-wheel drive.

 Equipped with engines:

• D17A - 1.7 liters, power 140 hp, diesel;
• K20A - two-liter unit 154 hp diesel;
• there are also petrol engines of 1.7, 1.8 and 2 liters.

As a transmission, you can order an automatic transmission, a robotic automatic transmission and a continuously variable variator. In Russia, it was not officially sold and is not for sale, used 2001-2010 will cost from 250 thousand and more, depending on the condition.

Honda Freed

Another 7-seater compact van designed for the markets of Southeast Asia. Popular in Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore. Its price in the database is 20 thousand dollars. The car is intended for a large family, although the technical specifications are rather modest:

• 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 118 hp;
• automatic transmission or variator;
• front-wheel drive;
• suspension - MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam.

Looks pretty good - a standard one-volume.

We have mentioned only a small part of Honda minivans. This segment is not represented in the Russian market in any way, but there are enough models: Acty, Jade, Jazz, S-MX, Stepwgn and many others.
