Kia minivans: review of models with photos and prices

Kia Motors is the second largest car manufacturer in Korea after Hyundai. In the global ranking, the company ranks 7th. At the same time, sales volumes are constantly increasing and in 2013 they reached about 3 million cars. The world's best-selling model is the Kia Rio.

In the model range of the company there are a large number of minivans of various classes: compact vans, minivans, minivans designed for 5 or 7 seats.

It is also worth noting that the company blurs the lines between different classes of cars. For example, the well-known model Kia Soul can be attributed to both crossovers and minivans, so we will also try to consider it in this article on our Vodi.su portal.

Kia Venga

Kia Venga belongs to the category of subcompact vans, its length is just over four meters and according to this parameter it would fit perfectly into the B-class of compact hatchbacks. However, due to the characteristic one-volume body shape, it was classified as a minivan.

Prices for this model in the showrooms of official dealers range from 799 thousand rubles for the basic configuration to 1 rubles. for the top model Prestige.

It comes to Russia with two types of motors:

• gasoline 1.4 liters, 90 hp, acceleration to hundreds in 12.8 seconds, combined cycle consumption of about 6.2 liters;
• gasoline 1.6 liters, 125 hp, acceleration to hundreds in 11.5 seconds, combined cycle consumption of 6.5 liters.

All cars with a less powerful engine are equipped with a 5-speed gearbox, more powerful ones have a 6-speed automatic.

A feature of the subcompact van engines is the presence of a revolutionary Stop and Go system, which is capable of performing the following functions:

• automatic shutdown of individual cylinders or engine in order to save fuel;
• brake energy recovery system;
• instantaneous, multiple start of the engine in various situations.

The car will be an excellent choice for a small family, it is ideal for driving around the city, and outside the city it shows good results. The maximum speed is 180 km/h.

Kia Carnival (Sedona)

Another minivan from a Korean manufacturer. At the moment, the car is not officially represented in Russia. The Kia Sedona is identical to the Hyundai Entourage minivan, which is very popular in Canada and the US. By the way, on Vodi.su we have already talked about Hyundai minivans.

Today, the Kia Carnival II is in its second generation. The car is equipped with the following engines:

• 6-cylinder engine with a volume of 2,7 liters, 189 hp;
• 2.9-liter diesel engine, 185 horsepower.

The layout is front-wheel drive everywhere. Buyers can choose between three transmission types:

• 5-speed mechanics;
• 4AKPP;
• 5automatic transmission.

Body type - 5-door station wagon, designed for 7 seats with a driver. The length of the body is 4810 millimeters. That is, the car is quite roomy.

When passing safety tests from Euro NCAP, it showed not the best results:

• passenger - 4 stars;
• child - 3 stars;
• pedestrian - 1 star.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer paid enough attention to safety: driver assistance systems (ABS, ESP), front and side airbags, parking sensors, exchange rate stability and so on.

Kia Carnival, including the second generation, can be purchased in Moscow at car auctions or classifieds sites. Prices range from 250 thousand rubles for a car produced in 2002, up to 1 million for 2010-2012.

Kia carens

A compact van that looks similar to the Kia Venga, but with an extended wheelbase, which is why the length of the body is increased from four meters to 4,3 meters.

Not officially represented in Russia. In Ukraine, it costs from 700 hryvnia, or about 1,5 million rubles. Used models are available at car markets and in Trade-In salons, prices start from 300 to 800 rubles.

A wonderful family car for 6 seats (there are configurations for 7 seats) comes with two types of engines:

• 2-liter gasoline for 150 hp;
• 1,7-liter diesel engine with 136 horsepower.

As a transmission, you can choose: 6MT or 6AT. MacPherson strut suspension with anti-roll bar at the front, torsion beam at the rear.

Fuel consumption:

• gasoline engine with MT - 9,8 / 5,9 / 7,3 liters (city / highway / combined cycle);
• gasoline with AT - 10,1 / 6 / 7,5;
• diesel with AT - 7,7 / 5,1 / 6,1.

The maximum speed is achieved, of course, on a gasoline engine with mechanics - 200 km / h. A good choice for those who like to go on a long journey along high-quality highways.

Kia Soul

This model is classified as a crossover, but the body shape is rather unusual, so experts consider it a minivan. In principle, there is no big difference - these are rather questions of terminology.

Soul, although it has a low ground clearance of only 153 millimeters, still has good maneuverability due to short overhangs in the front and rear. The rear row of seats is strongly shifted back, so 5 people can easily fit here.

The creators took care of the safety of both passengers and the driver. Kia Soul in the overall rating received 5 stars and is considered one of the safest cars.

Prices in the salons of dealers start from 764 thousand rubles and reach 1,1 million rubles.

The car comes with two engines:

• 1.6-liter gasoline, 124 hp;
• 1.6-liter gasoline with direct injection, 132 hp

Both automatic and manual transmissions for 6 ranges are available. Depending on the type of transmission, acceleration to hundreds will be 11.3, 12.5 or 12.7 seconds.

Fuel consumption:

• 7,3 - mechanics;
• 7,9 - automatic;
• 7,6 - direct injection engine with automatic transmission.

To ensure driving comfort, there is a full range of modern assistants: ABS, ESC, BAS (assistance with emergency braking), VSM (active control system), HAC (assistance when starting on a hill).
